. . . you can spend as long as you like gazing at these wonderful works of art by Pinturicchio if you don't go at peak season. Generally the visit goes clockwise around the room and it is best to look at the right hand wall while you are on the left of the room, and vice versa. Otherwise it is too easy to get that tourist injury - the crick in the neck from looking at too much mind-boggling art set high on the walls! The whole room seems ablaze with the colours of the paintings which tell the story of Pope Pius II. We have made four visits to the Biblioteca during visits to the Duomo and we still have a longing to return to take in even more of the beauty. I chose the 2-3 hour length of time for the visit to include the cathedral.
