Beautiful frescos. Definitely go see it if you are in Siena. The day we were there, in the off-season, it was empty so we had the whole room to ourselves.
We are serious. The frescos and illuminated music books are nothing short of stunning. Try to time your visit to avoid tour groups because the room is simply too small to handle them and still be magical. You won't be disappointed.
I recommend a audio guide for this amazing venue, very informative and beautiful. A must do while in Siena!
Located within the Duomo, the biblioteca is a marvelous, exuberant, room filled with frescoes by Tuscan masters and a ceiling that makes you want to lie down on the floor and stare at it for an hour or so.
Part of the Duomo, the amazing ceilings and walls in this tiny library make the illuminated manuscripts that it contains almost pale into insignificance. The gilding and painting on the ceiling is as sharp as when it was done and the frescos are truly stunning.
