With its more than one million visitors every year, the Cathedral without a doubt represents the fulcrum of the entire complex, while other significant elements include the Crypt, the Baptistery and the Museo dell'Opera, all part of the impressive mass formed by the "Duomo Vecchio" (Old Cathedral), and the "Duomo Nuovo" (New Cathedral). Visitors will travel along a memorable itinerary to the discovery of self and the truth of faith through culture and art, the result of more than a millennium of Western history. « less

“Stunning Cathedral!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

I'm Catholic and this has got to be my favorite among all the cathedrals I've visited. I was in total awe just staring at the exterior architecture with it's intricate details and sculptures. Once inside, I was virtually stunned from the marble floors to the ceiling and everything in between. The entire cathedral and its contents are in itself a magnificent work of art. Interestingly enough, our guide briefed us on the cathedral's history and the long standing rivalry between Siena and Florence which added to our appreciation of the place. A definite must see in Tuscany. Awesome!

“Lots to see”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

We visited the cathedral on a rainy day so lots of people taking shelter. The architecture is amazing and you really need to take your time to see it all and not miss the minor details. This place is truly amazing and one of the best we have visited over Europe, and we have seen a lot.

“My favorite cathedral in Italy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

The cathedral in Siena is by far my favorite. Although St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican is amazing nothing compares to the amazing marble floor etchings of the Siena Duomo. My wife and have been here several times and love spending hours looking at the floors. I would highly recommend this cathedral if you are in or anywhere near Siena. My wife and I bought a pass that included the chathedral museum, the baptisry and the main catherdral. It's totally worth it! The busiest is the cathedral so I would recommend getting there early to enjoy the floors before it gets crowded, then you can move on to the baptestry and museum. If you travel all the way to the top of the museum you can take a stairs to a high lookout point that can be seen from the courtyard by the ticket office. It's totally worth the long trek up the stairs but the lines can get pretty long so it's worth it to either do that first or second after the cathedral.
