Antica Torre is located within the city walls of Siena, Italy. The location of the hotel is very close to all the attractions within this old, ancient city. The hotel is very old which explains its lack of certain ammenities and spacious bathrooms. However, for the price Antica Torre is definitely a stop for anyone seeking to marvel the gothic streets of Siena.

Antica Torre is located in a 400 year old tower. It's oozing with history, and that alone is alluring. However, it comes with some caveats. First, since it's a tower, be ready for LOTS of stairs (there are only two rooms per floor). Second, old world design means old world sound insulation and plumbing. That means you'll hear everything, and the water temperature is constantly in flux. That said, I would strongly recommend staying in either of the top two rooms facing the countryside. The top room has only space for a single bed but has the most amazing view. The second to top room has space for two double beds (pushed together, of course) and the view is reallly quite good, but you'll hear your upstairs neighbors quite easily. It's located in what seems to be the college part of town, so there's a sense of vibrancy in the area, and it's close to one of the portas, so it's a quick walk to your car. Parking is either 1 euro an hour on the street, or you can park for free at their sister hotel, which is about a 15 minute walk outside of town. Antica Torre is a decent hotel -- good for a home base as you tour the area.

We stayed at the Antica Torre without having much of a chance to research what was available in Siena. Our A/C unit appeared to be on and the fan was working, but it didn't cool. The bed wasn't very comfortable. The water temperature in the shower drifted quite a bit during the shower. The owner (?) smokes a lot and keeps the front door closed, so if you're on the first level the smoke drifts into your room. It was a bed for the night with a private bathroom, but I wouldn't stay here again.

Two nights in this hotel was plenty. It's recommended in some guidebooks, but I'm sure they haven't been there in a while. We knew we'd have to haul our own bags up the stairs. Okay. The bathroom had blackish mold on the wall.
The sheets and towels seemed clean. The a/c worked. The view out the window was nice. Location was okay. I think the bathroom was once a closet or small hallway -- access was through a folding door. Maybe other rooms are better. I'd pass next time (and not think twice about it.)
