“my very good experience in Antica Torre hotel Siena”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2011

The location the best one just 5 min from the Piazza Del Campo ( the centre of Siena). The room was very comfortable just as a medieval one and very clean.Breakfast serving was very good one with fresh nice bread, fresh coffee etj..The staff are very nice and gentle.I think it is a good place where you can feel yourself well after the trip round Siena.I would recommended every one, who wants to visit Siena a medieval city to go to this hotel, because you can feel as you are in middle age.It is the aim of this travel!!!!.That Mr.or Mrs who has written so badly didn't want to enjoy the medieval hotel they had to go to somewhere!!!

Room Tip: It is very quiete place, the location excellent.Don't forget that it is a medieval kind of hotel.

maybe it was just bad luck, but we had no hot water and noone was around the lobby to ask for help. the hotel was left unattended. unbeknownst to us the owner lives across the street. we should have know to call her there if there was a problem. she was apologetic and did the right thing and discounted our rate. no hard feelings. we loved Siena.

I booked this hotel because Arthur Frommer recommended it highly. I just really did not care for it. It was clean, the room was fine but it all felt sort of claustrophobic. Lobby non existent. They provided you with a key to unlock the outer door at night. I did not know if the owner was there, or for that matter anyone else! As I was traveling alone the thought that I might be the only one in the building was unnerving.
The air conditioner was so so with a remote control that was impossible to figure out.

Per other reviews; the location is the main selling point on this property. The woman who runs it is also extremly kind. I think it is possible that some people find the place charming, though we did not happen to feel that way. It was disappointing that our a/c was broken given how hot it was while we were in Siena. When we asked about it, we were told that the entire hotel had no a/c and we understood. At breakfast, we overheard a couple of other tables talking about their a/cs--and how they worked so well that one person had to turn his off halfway through the night because he was so cold. So that was a bit off-putting. However a/c does not make or break a hotel experience; this place just felt rather out-dated in general.

Very good situated hotel in centre of Siena. Breakfast was OK and the staff very friendly.
Calm streets around so our sleep was perfect. Rooms are big enough and very clean, with all needed facilities. I would come back again.

We booked the room just an hour before our arrival to Siena at 8pm. We got our price and hurry to find the hotel itself. The probable owner "Patricia" gave us instructions and left us a key attached to the front door of a hotel. No one was at the reception but Patricia left us a nice welcoming letter with instructions.
The room was small (smaller and more expensive that the one we had in Florence) with minimal natural light (only one window pointed to the dirty tiny courtyard) and due to the massive walls - no signal reception for mobile phone. Air conditioning not working.
The night was good, but at 8am a noise started: first English speaking guests started to argue with the receptionist - we heard every single word. Then at 9am receptionist started to argue with Patricia very loudly about our room, we figured out when one of the women tried to break in without bothering to even knock. At this point we decided to leave immediately, 2 hours before needed. The receptionist speaks English but when it came to question morning fight we witnessed she suddenly forgot it all and when we asked about Patricia, she simply stated: “Patricia gone.”
When asked to get receipt after we paid for the night as a reference for the police as we entered area with limited traffic by car she became very reluctant and we finally discovered the reason of the morning fight and that she tried to accommodated us off record, leaving the problem with the police on us.
It was very unpleasant start to our stay in Siena and we are not planning to ever return to this place nor to recommend it to anyone.

Nice place. I liked the style of the rooms and the place in general. The receptionists were extremely friendly. The lady insisted on dragging my suitcase upstairs which I find weird. The size of the rooms is OK. I found my room very clean, my bedlinen and towels were changed daily. My room was extremely quiet. The hotel is in the historical center, and yet, on a small and calm street. There's no receptionist during the night, so it feels like staying in a private apartment. The only unpleasant thing is the smoke penetrating everywhere and waking you up early in the morning.
