“A joy to have found”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

We found Zest by accident of taking a wrong turning, the menu was interesting and we decided to try our luck. We were certainly not disappointed, the greeting was a little reserved but it warmed instantly. The Maître d is English married to a local girl, they are both delightful. The menu has been thoughtfully constructed with simple dishes explained in both Italian and English. Five or six choices for each course and the prices were very reasonable. The portions were generous and cooked to perfection, the choice of wines, both red and white were mainly local but there was a good choice and good advice to be given if necessary. The roast pork option was outstanding and the deserts produced by the chef were an absolute delight.. In fact the food was so good that we took friends there the next evening and they were equally impressed by the cuisine.

“Best meal in Italy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

We just returned home from 10 wonderful days in Italy and our best meal, by far, was at Zest in Sienna. What a wonderful (and fun) setting.. the owner was very accommodating to our group of six and my dinner was the best one I had in Italy (and we had several). I would highly recommend this restaurant... and it was very reasonably priced!

“Siena's hidden secret.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

Ever ate on a steep slope? This and a slew of other restos in the area creates a unique outdoor atmosphere in a very lovely neighborhood of Siena. The tables are angled similar to a funicular and looking down is like balcony theater seating. My fried squid & zucchine served on fine ribbons of carrot & celery with lemon aioli was okay. I can tell the squid had indeed traveled many miles inland. It was not the freshiest from the crate. The chicken rolls wrapped in pancetta was a mélange of flavors. The fig and percorino stuffing brought it to a home run. Finally my mussel linquine special had the perfect toss, spice, herb and all.
The restaurant has a bar and all evening, locals can be heard belting out 'O sole mio'. Sounded like they were having fun. So did we as we joined 'sta nfronte a te sta nfronte a te'.

“Great value for money, lovely atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

Food is excellent, so is the service, especially Rajae (fluent in French by the way), who made me feel very welcome. The restaurant has tables outside with a great view of the top of the Duomo. Free wifi. Been there twice, would definitely recommend.

“Friends from Liverpool”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013 via mobile

We were late finding a place to eat and ended here after the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. The food and service was excellent. The owners accommodated us and we stayed late even after all the customers had gone. We were given an extra free bottle of wine too. Set on a steep slope with outside tables specially designed to stay straight. Highly recommended for the freshness of the food, setting and friendliness.
