“Nice place to stay in Siena!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2012

We stay just one night in February (low season) and everything was great.

Room: They gave us a suite instead of a double-bed room because it was low season and the hotel was empty. The room was great, very big and with a kitchen. However the bathroom was little bit small and old.

Service: The staff was really polite. There isn't a breakfast hall and for this reason they serve breakfast in the bedroom...and it's good, you order what you want from a menu.
There isn't parking lot and it's forbidden to enter in the city center with the car. But you can enter just to leave the luggage and the staff will set everything with the local police.

Location: In the historical center, close to everything.

Price: Pretty good considering the quality.

“Would reccomend it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012

PROS:
- Ladies at the reception were very friendly and always willing to help.
- Breakfast is taken to the room (see picture).
- Very well located, very close to Piazza del Campo (Palio).
- Ricky (man who takes breakfast and cleans the rooms) is very kind and helpful.

CONS:
- During winter the owner saves money by turning off the heating during certain hours, it is a problem if you're staying in certain big rooms, it will be very cold...
- If you're an elder or have problems to walk you'll have a hard time with the stairs, unless you have a room at the top floor, where there is another entrance and you would avoid the stairs.
- Rooms and bathrooms are a little old, some rooms are not in very good conditions.

“Value for money and only minutes from Il Campo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2012

I agree with all the good reviews posted so far. We stayed there during the recent snow and had two rooms. Room 3 on the top floor had a beautiful fresco but very high ceiling so it was a bit cold, but there was a heater provided. Room 11 on the 1st floor was a cosy double with a sitting room/kitchen where we had breakfast. (Tea, Coffee, orange juice, lovely brioche, melba toasts and jams and yogurts)
We had booked a quad but when they saw we were all adults they kindly offered us a choice of doubles.
In the winter they seem to use the entrance on Via Dupre (front entrance) instead of Via Casato di Sopra (back entrance)
This was real value for money at this time of year and we found the building a facinating place to stay and would return.

Room Tip: If you book a quad on a booking website it seems to be geared towards 2 adults and two children rath...

“great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2011

This hotel was a beautiful old palace our room had a delighful balcony garden where you could sit and eat with a great rooftop view. The location was excellent as was the service. It was all we wished for in such a beautiful old city. The staff were very helpful and friendly. One of my favourite hotels mainly due to the garden.

Room Tip: Don't stay here if you dont like stairs, but I think it adds to that authentic experience of an...

“great little place, in the heart of the old city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2011

The hotel is on the first three floors of an old building
within the walls of the old city - just blocks from Il Campo
and the Doumo. Everything in Siena is just blocks from the
center, however those blocks can be steep and winding.

We had a marvelous room on the second floor with a domed
ceiling. The ceiling was beautiful - painted with frescoes.
The room over-looked the old city and its winding streets.
Bed was good, clean lines. Hotel had ecology conscious signs
posted, so we used our towels for the second day.

Breakfast was sufficient and was served in our room. We
decided to take our tray into the common room on our floor -
there were four other rooms on the floor. The common room
was large and spacious, with large table and chairs,
surrounded by huge chairs and sofa. Next to this was a
second common room, with library, CDs, guitar, and toys for
those with children.

Hotel staff - both reception and room attendants were nice,
helpful and friendly, and made suggestions for our visit in
Siena. Staff spoke English. Free WiFi in the room. However,
staff is only on duty for morning check-out and afternoon-
evening check-in.

While hotel is only a few blocks from Il Campo, trains to
Siena actually stop outside of the city. The bus station is
at Gramsci Piazza, north of Il Campo. We took the Nbr. 3 bus
to the end of the line - Porta Tutti - and then walked one
very long up-hill block up to the hotel. Suggest paying the
10 EUR for a taxi from train station.

Hotel has two entrances - reception is on Via Dupre, which
is a steep longer street from the center, and then a climb
to your hotel room,. Other entrance is on Via Casato, a much
less steep street, and then only a climb down to one's room.
This is an old building, with large quaint rooms, but there
is no elevator.

We stayed for two nights, and would definitely come back
again. We would highly recommend staying in this charming
facility.
