“A little gem in the country”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

This is one of the best reviews I've had the fortune to write. This is a super spot, very rustic, may not be for those who like super luxury eg there was no tv (thank God) or air con in room, only a fan which was ample. Very authentic and the wine and oil was fantastic, drink the vernacchia until it comes out your ears. Umberto and his charming family looked after us like kings and any of his reccomendations were superb. The pool area was lovely and private and there are some stunning walks in the area. We dined there on one evening and it was fabulous and a very fun experience with unlimited yummy wine and food. It is 4km from the stunning town of San Gimignano so you will need taxis or a car but all that was arranged within minutes while we tasted wine. Simply superb!!A special mention goes to his lovely 13 year old daughter who was on hand and handled all out crazy requests with gusto. 100% reccomend!!

We stayed one night here and chose it on the basis of the reviews on Tripadvisor. It was pleasant enough but I feel less enthusiastic about it than some other reviewers. The hosts were pleasant enough but we booked about 8 months in advance and gave detailed information about wanting twin beds and I booked through HRS because it offered welcome drink and a bottle of mineral water and 'no city tax'. We had to argue about this point of no city tax when we got there and the room had not been prepared and no water came and I asked for a welcome drink and we got a sample of wines, but if I had not asked, I am not sure. It was best (=most expensive, most stars) place I booked for our trip, so felt a little disappointed.

However, it was a pleasant location and fairly close to San Gimignano, although when we went to visit the town we had to park a 20-minute walk away as all car parks were full, and walk uphill, twice, evening and morning. It was very crowded and touristy and although worth a look, I would go for less touristy walled town in future, simply too busy to have much atmosphere. Parking is a pain - probably if San G is your aim, better to book a place in or near town with a car park to save the trouble, time and expense.

The accommodation had a pool with a nice grassy area to lie around. Four screaming kids when we went in the pool, and it seemed to attract people with kids, which would not suit everyone. However, we enjoyed the pool.

Breakfast was quite good - we had better and worse on our travels.

The room was nice - very large and lovely view over the fields. Beds were comfortable. No air-con and quite warm. Bedside light did not work. Clean enough. The bathroom was very nice - smallish but very clean and everything worked well. Breezy. Nice atmosphere. Parking was good.

All up, we enjoyed it but for the price I might have expected just a little better.

This is a unique and picturesque place to stay. Friendly staff, excellent food when available ( you must ask for lunch), an amazing dinner party with all the farms wine provided.
A nice swimming pool too. When you arrive, take a look at the rooms available. They are of different quality. Take into account that there`s no air condition.
6 minutes drive from San Gimignano, this is a great place to stay!

Room Tip: Choose a room upside the road.

I booked this on the basis of Tripadvisor reviews which were very positive on the whole. Having stayed there for two weeks recently I have mixed feelings now about this accommodation. While the hosts were friendly enough we had a number of issues which really weren't handled professionally. While the accommodation is somewhat rustic and seemingly authentically Toscana no excuses for being dusty or having to continually ask for clean towels (and not always provided) or arranging dinner only to be told at the allotted time that they were only cooking for 4 that night and we were not included!
Don't get me wrong the grounds, pool and overall location are really nice but we did not have a really positive experience as regards service or being valued as a customer.
For example, when settling our 2 week account there was no "thank you", "hope you had a pleasant stay with us" or anything resembling gratitude/ inducement to return - it's nice to be nice when all said and done!
It's probably best suited as a short term base for visiting tourist attractions nearby over a couple of days or so!

We arrived there not very happy (due to a car accident we had just a few kilometers before arriving) but our host (Federica) was very helpful and supportive to us. She is a wonderful host, you can be sure of that.
The place itself is very rustic and full of charm. We had a lovely one bedroom apartment with great view over the heels. As expected, the furniture in the apartment is old and well fit in the scenery (so don't expect luxury).
I loved the pool, it is more than a pleasure during the hot months (we stayed there for 6 nights in the last week of June).
They sell lot of products they made there at the farm, the wine is great of course, but the olive oil and sun dried tomatoes really touched my heard. You should try them.
As the guest before me mentioned, sometime they organize dinners you're not allowed to miss, real international "conventions" (so now I take the opportunity to say hello to the lovely family from Pittsburgh and to all the other quest that were at the dinner with us that evening).
The location of the farm is very good, it is close to San Gimignano (so you can easily spend some evenings there) and also from there we visited Chianti area (don't miss Montefioralle, close to Greve), Siena and Monteriggioni.
Me and my wife also had some romantic dinners (using local products and wine) under the moon light in different corners of the farm (pool side is one of the best), the fresh air during the evening/night is a treasure itself.
Have fun!

Room Tip: Rooms with a view over the heals may be a bit noisy during the night (if you sleep with the open win...

We were brought here by our driver from Your Tour in Italy for a wine tasting. The owner was very accommodating, giving us a tour of their wine cellar and introduction to their wine-making techniques.

Lunch was served along with the wine tasting, very rustic and authentic, in a wonderful room upstairs.

All in all, the atmosphere and hospitality was a great combination!
