“Don't miss this!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

The frescoes in the Duomo were on a par with anything I have seen in other parts of Italy. The walls as completely painted depicting scens from the bible and the life of Christ in a way that exemplifies the medieval vision of religion. Wonderful frescoes in the chapel of St.Fina

“The best comic book cathedral in the world...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Walk past the fairly bland exterior, and find the stories of the bible, old and new testament, in comic book format inside. Was tempted to reread my old bible childrens history to relive the stories in the pictures. Wish there had been more texts on the walls, so next time I will buy the guide book in advance...

“Beautiful frescos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

Don't be fooled by the rather plain exterior - the impressive Collegiata (formerly the Duomo but no longer has its own Bishop) contains a beautiful cycle of frescos surrounding the inner walls of the church and narrating scenes from the scenes from the old and new testaments and a stunning ceiling. The depiction of the seven deadly sins near the door is vivid and quite sinister and not to be missed! There's a free audio guide that you can pick up from the ticket office (just need to leave a driving license or credit card as deposit) which really illustrates the stories of the frescos. Don't forget that as a functioning italian church its expected you will dress appropriately i.e. cover shoulders and to the knees - disposable cover-ups are provided though

“Don't miss if you're in the town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

The plain, rather bland exterior of the church doesn't prepare you for the most amazing frescoes inside. They're probably not the most skilful or best preserved you'll ever see, but for sheer vitality of design, colour and scale, they are well worth the trip. Our teenage children were less enamoured (our daughter smarting from being asked to wear a poncho to cover her less modest attire) but other families around us seemed to be enjoying it as much as we were. Do go.

“You MUST visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

The outside masks the wonderful detail of the inside- this will take your breath away as it is magnificent. The skill, diligence and sheer beauty of the work has to be seen to be believed. The frescoes are awesome.
