The plain, rather bland exterior of the church doesn't prepare you for the most amazing frescoes inside. They're probably not the most skilful or best preserved you'll ever see, but for sheer vitality of design, colour and scale, they are well worth the trip. Our teenage children were less enamoured (our daughter smarting from being asked to wear a poncho to cover her less modest attire) but other families around us seemed to be enjoying it as much as we were. Do go.
