My family of 4 were in Italy for 14 days and stayed at Podere Il Pino for 4 nights, while visiting Florence and all of the Tuscany area. We rented a car for the first time in Florence to travel around the Tuscany area. I chose Podere Il Pino based on the reviews on Trip Advisor. I was disappointed with the accommodations.
1) Matteo, the manager on site, was injured in a car accident recently, so he was never there in the 4 days we stayed. We received our keys from Franco, the grounds keeper, who spoke no English. So, when I had questions as to how to drive into Florence or where to park, or where to buy groceries or any other problems or questions, there was no one there to help us. I felt bad I had to call Matteo on his cell and found out he was in the hospital! The owner should have replaced Matteo with another manager on site to help the guests while Matteo was out sick.
2) Apt #8, had a terrible smell coming from one of the bathrooms. Franco tried to fix it, but could not. It smelled like rotten eggs, so we suspected it was a sewer problem. Matteo felt bad, so he comped me one nights stay (which was nice of him) because we couldn't use the bathroom throughout our stay. Luckily, Apt #8 had 2 bathrooms and the other one was fine. But, the smell radiated to the bedroom my girls stayed in, so it was uncomfortable. They couldn't wait to leave.
3) Be prepared, you are in the countryside, so there are bugs. There were quite a few wasps during our stay.
Overall, I'm sure a stay at Podere Il Pino would have been lovely and wonderful if Matteo was around and the bathroom was fixed before we got there. It is unfortunate, Matteo was injured. The location, pool, grounds and the apt (except for the bathroom) were great. Matteo was warm and accommodating via email and the phone, which is why I chose to stay there. Under different circumstances, I think Podere Il Pino would have made a nice stay in Tuscany. But, based on the time I was there, I have to rate it a 3 because of all the problems.
Chose an apt on the ground floor so your patio doors open to a garden sitting area. Apt #9 looked ni...

I am really apologize if I wasn't in "Podere il Pino" during your stay...
Unfortunatelly I had a crash with my car (it wasn't my fault)... So, during your stay in "Podere il Pino" I was in the hospital to have an operation to my clavicle and my shoulder... I had to stay for 4 days in the hospital (unfortunatelly it was exact during your stay)...
Of course my boss tryed have find a person that can speak in English (infact the Saturday and the Sunday there was a girl in the afternoon in "Podere il Pino" her name is Cinzia...). She told me that you have met her. She speak a very good english and german and some french and spanish.
Anyway you could understand also the situation because I had the crash and then I have to do an operation. So, I wasn't really able to come there!
We wasn't able to program my crash and all of it so also for my boss wasn't very easy to find a person that she was able for the day after... Anyway he done this!
I understand your problem so I tryed to resolve this and I made a free night for your stay. So, you payed for 3 nights instead of the 4 nights.
Also I hope that you appreciate all my mails that I have sent you before your arrival in "Podere il Pino". I sent you more than 30 mails (before your arrival) about information and tricks to have a nice holiday in Italy... I am happy to do this to my clients but I hope you appreciate all of this!
About the bathroom this is very strange because Franco is came in your property to fix it and after that the bathroom was ok! Infact the property is booked from when you have left and nobody told us about the smell... Also Franco told me that he fixed it when you was there! Maybe it need some time to be fine as like as usual. Anyway I hope you liked our place and you can come back here in the future!
Thank you again for your stay in "Podere il Pino" and sorry for the inconvenient (I was more happy to be at work instead of the hospital...)!!!!!
