“Fine but nothing more”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2014

It seems we (as a couple) are expecting more when we stay a night in a small (7 room) hotel.
After staying a few nights with our family in Milan (seeing and filling what a designed Italian house is like as well as getting all the attention), we reserved in advance our nights in Tuscany tour for 7 nights. But as our big expectations so did come our disappointment from this hotel in a beautiful village such as San Gimignano. Welcoming was simple and we had to ask many question instead of getting instructions from them. Not enough accessories in the bath Indeed, they helped us to upload our big and heavy suitcase to our 1st floor bedroom, as well as giving us their own parking permit to put it in our car for free 6 hours. Parking is very difficult to find though I was lucky enough to find (finally) down the road a free parking space.
The restaurant which is located below was very noisy and we were forced to ask them to ask the guests to leave at 24:00, because we could not sleep! The room is simple but was fine and the location is great. Breakfast was simple but rich. In the over whole, our staying was ok, but it seems that they could have made a bit of an effort to pay closer attention to the fact that they have guests!

After visiting San Gimignano more than 9 years ago we decided to return again for a 3 day break. We booked a B&B within the walls of the town called il Pino.

We had a lovely stay at the B&B rooms of il Pino. The rooms are located on the first floor – directly above the restaurant of the same name with private bathroom room eg shower and TV. The rooms were lovely and clean with period furniture, the bathroom was spacious and the shower was very powerful. Breakfast was served downstairs and included bread, yoghurt, cereals, croissants, fruit juice and tea or cafe. The cost of the stay for a double room was €55.00 per night with breakfast charged at €7.50 each. We thought this was good value for a stay in San Gimignano. A small point to note – as with all cities and towns there is some noise from the street below until the restaurant closes around 11 pm.

We would definitely book again if we return San Gimignano again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the building are likely to be quieter.

We found this spot at the last minute. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful. Room was 55 Euros and well worth it!! Very convenient to everything in this wonderful little and charming town. Don't miss it!!

When we arrived in San Gimignano we had not booked ahead and could not get a room in any of TA's recommended gaffs. We passed Il Pino restaurant and noticed that there were rooms available above. We were shown the room by a friendly member of the team and decided to take it as we would rather explore than room hunt. It was cheap and it was OK. The bedding was clean and the bed firm. The room was a little scruffy and the bed mats had to be moved as they looked like they had never been cleaned. The bathroom housed several fungal experiments all at different stages of development and the shower door had a very contrary mind of its own. That all said, it was very Italian and when in San Gimignano...as they say. By the way we also ate in the restuarant in the evening and whilst it was a little pricey it was excellent.
