“Worth the walk to the end of the street”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2012

We had a lovely late lunch at this quiet spot away from most of the tourist areas. Very friendly and helpful service. Food was outstanding. We were only in San Gimignano for part of a day, but kept wishing we could go back just to try more items on their menu.

“A good place for a simple lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2012

Our impression of San Gimignano is that it would be easy to spend a lot of money on a not very memorable meal. Much of town is also heaving with visitors. So it was great to come across this unpretentious place in a quiet piazza by the church of San Agostino (which is well worth visiting). The meal was simple but entirely adequate, the service was efficient and friendly and, for an extremely tourist-y town, it is reasonably priced.

“Disappointing, definitely a tourist restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012 via mobile

We made a decision to go to this restaurant following the reviews on TA, and sat outside. The restaurant was well populated, by Germans, English and Americans. The wait staff were all multilingual too.

The menu was limited and not totally inspiring, but had city centre prices. A glass of diet coke (filled with ice so not a lot of coke) was €3. We were not given any recommendations at all, or bread for that matter and had to ask for oil and vinegar for the bruschetta.

After asking three times for bread it came just as we were finishing the meal. The meal itself was okay, nothing that made us want to repeat the visit.

On going to the loo, passing the packed tables inside, it appeared that pizza was the speciality items!

The piazza was also closing so it was empty and didn't provide any atmosphere.

All in all, it was disappointing having experienced other Tuscan restaurants that had a buzz and liveliness to them.

“A hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2012

Fell upon the Locanda Di Sant'Agostino by chance and were totally delighted with our meal. We were tired and thirsty and it was about time for all restaurants in Italy to close for the afternoon when we sat down at an outside table. We were the only ones there and enjoyed our lunch (saffron fettucini w/squash and spaghetti w/wild boar sauce) and the friendly service immensely.
Only wish we had time to go back again for another meal!
