“Tremendous value and stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014

We stayed here for 4 days as a base in Tuscany. For that purpose, it was great. San Gimignano gets EXTREMELY busy during the day with loads of tour buses. By venturing out during the day, we then returned to San Gimignano for supper and evening walks in relative peace and quiet after the throngs of people left (even though there was a festival the first night we were there- it seemed like only locals were there). Very enjoyable.

We had a total of three rooms- a double room and two adjoining rooms for a family of four. All rooms were spacious and very clean. All had A/C for the occasion when it was hot. Plenty of space in the rooms, a minibar, and good showers. Very comfortable.

There is a nice area to relax in the back with a very clean pool- as luck would have it, it was chilly when we were there and some rain, so we could not use it, but I would imagine that it would a nice place to unwind and relax after a day of touring.

The breakfast room is large and bright and clean. A nice selection of juices, homemade cakes, croissants, meats such as prosciutto and salami, cheese, fresh bread, and of course their home-made olive oil, which was very good. And we cannot forget the coffee- Cristiano is a master at making whatever you desire, and his artwork with the cappuccinos sets off smiles.

Yes, there is wifi, and for the most part, it worked very well.

This was a great decision to stay here. The level of comfort for the price paid is great. But best of all, as Cristiano mentioned to me as we left, it is family run and they run it on pride. I say a job well done! We shall be back....

Everything was perfect for our family's stay at this beautiful B and B. From Tamara's friendly welcome, to Cristiano's cappuccinos, to Ambra's helpful hints, we could not recommend this place more highly. The breakfast was enough to keep us going for long wanders through Tuscany and like others, the pool awaited at the end of those days. Although some travel reviewers suggest SG is too busy, we thought this location was perfect for a family exploring Tuscany. You can walk to SG through a backroad path too (at least during the day). Lovely restaurant up the hill (2 minute walk) but be sure to check for the one day it might be closed.

Room Tip: Our family of four took two adjoining rooms (the kids had the more spacious bathroom but no complain...

My husband and I stayed at La Fornace Di Racciano for 3 nights during our 5 week stint in Italy and wished we had been able to stay longer! Our host Cristiano was so welcoming and even picked us up in San Gimigiano because we were travelling from Florence on the bus! We were greeted on arrival by the beautiful Ambra and seated by the pool with coffee and cake while our check in documentation was filled out. Our apartment was located in the gorgeous little Hamlet of Racciano just a short distance from the main building and a stone's throw from a lovely restaurant offering delicious local fare. Our self contained apartment was homely and had everything we could possibly need - we particularly enjoyed sitting outside with a glass of local wine and produce in the private courtyard enjoying the serenity and quaintness of our surrounds. It is possible to walk from Racciano to San Gimigiano on a back road which meanders past grape vines and farmlets ( ask Cristiano for directions) - it only takes about 45 minutes! Make sure you take the camera? On the day we departed for Rome (a Sunday - not a great day to travel on public transport!) Ambra went to great lengths to "plot" and book our travel details which was MUCH appreciated - Grazie Ambra! Can highly recommend this Tuscan experience and will certainly return when next in Italy.

We have just come back and we found la fornacce di racciano excellent. The location is stunning, our apartment was really nice and clean, the surroundings were beautiful and staff was really friendly and ready to go out of their way to help. We travelled with our 14 month old son and were provided with a high chair and cot. Breakfast was delicious as well. Couldn't fault it, really good value for money. We felt very at ease, keep it going!

Stayed in this wonderful bed and breakfast for a week while visiting Tuscany. The breakfast and the accommodations are truly 5 star. Loved coming back to La Fornace after a long day of sightseeing to a wonderful pool while being served by the owner Cristiano local wines and cheeses. A real slice of heaven.

If you're looking for a place that is centrally located, close to Pisa, Florence, Volterra, & Sienna, than look no further. You won't be sorry.

We are a young married couple that recently got back from an amazing stay at La Fornace Di Racciano. This quiet and spacious farmhouse sits on a hill overlooking the landscapes of Tuscany and the hill town of San Gimignano. The hosts are the most gracious that we have experienced at any place that we have ever stayed. Our apartment was very clean, comfortable, and offered a kitchen to cook any local foods that we were interested in. One of our favorite experiences there was the breakfast consisting of meats, cheeses, pastries, and much more all from the area of San Gimignano. The olive oil was so fresh that we couldn't get enough of it along with the exceptional cappuccinos offered to us both in the mornings and evenings. The farmhouse is situated in a perfect location to see all of Tuscany. We travel modestly and the price to stay there is so affordable! We felt right at home and will definitely be back someday soon. We highly recommend this location.

stayed here for a week last summer as part of a tour of Tuscany and would have loved to have stayed longer. The accommodation is spotless and there always seemed to be cleaning going on. Breakfast is excellent with coffees loving prepared by the owner. Pool is small but clean and the views are to die for you feel you are in the real Tuscany. the town of San Gimignano is a few minutes drive away where you can find many shops restaurants bars ect it always seemed to be busy with a very calm family atmosphere . Food here was very reasonable and of a high standard The owners will do anything to make your stay memorable even got me some fresh truffles on my last day to take home . book with confidence and recommended as long as you are able to drive as taxis are not readily available and are very expensive.

Room Tip: the rooms behind reception have access to a small private garden
