“Excellent Hotel - Highly Recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

This is a lovely hotel, a great alternative to staying in the overpriced places in the city centre. It is not far from the airport - the hotel offer a shuttles service to the airport and railway station - and a little out of the centre, but this was fine for us. It actually was nice to come back here after a day of exploring and relax in the chilled out surroundings this hotel provides.
It is very modern - all glass and bright lights, the rooms are along dark corridors with paintings all along the walls and doors. Our room was large with a huge floor to ceiling glass window, very comfortable bed and sofa bed for our son. It was all white, chrome and high tech. The bathroom was also very large with a huge shower and ultra-modern appliances.
We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel. Dinner was good, but the restaurant is all white and the lights made the atmosphere a little sterile. Breakfast was a different matter though, with the sun streaming through and all the bright surfaces it looked great. They had a lovely dinner menu and a reasonable choice at breakfast.
All staff were excellent - from check-in to the waiters, everyone was exceptionally friendly and went out of their way to help.
They have a garden with recliners, cabanas and a bar - a fabulous place to get a drink and chill out after a day of pounding the pavements of Pisa.
There is a bus stop a little way from the hotel, we took a bus from here into the city which cost 1 Euro 20 each way. We got off at the railway station and walked through the city to the Leaning Tower - a very nice 30 minute walk.
The shuttle service offered by the hotel costs 10 Euros per group and will take you either to the airport or railway station.
We loved this hotel, it is comfortable, modern, clean and a great alternative to staying in the centre but you are still able to easily see everything. Would highly recommend.

It was a nice hotel, but very white every where which makes you feel you are in a mental hospital, your eyes will heart after some times. Even the lighting in the room was white which was really annoying. Be careful if you have allergies to pets, as I was dying from sneezing all the time because this hotel is pet allowed, but I believe they could leave some rooms for people with Asthma and allergies. Breakfast is good but unfortunately no facilities for tea and coffee in the room and we have been charged €10 only for one tea in the room. Far from the centre.

San Ranieri hotel is relaxing with its lounging areas on all floors. Very happy and friendly staff especially the bar man michele. The room with a view, beautiful scenery looking at the mountains. Easy access to travel. There is a bus that comes regularly outside the hotel that takes you straight to Pisa central saves a lot of euros by bus. Don't 4get to validate your ticket on the bus!! Restaurant situated 100 yards from hotel. The food is delicious with excellent service. Have already recommended this hotel to friends and family!!!

Room Tip: Top floor room !!

The San Ranieri is not a tourist hotel, as such, though that is not to say it would not make a good base for a holiday. It is located in the suburbs, convenient for the hospital and the industrial/business area of the city and it has its own conference facilities. It boasts quite an ambitious restaurant, which I did not try, except for breakfast, and is generally pretty high-tech, both in design and in facilities.

There is free WiFi in all rooms and in some public spaces. The rooms are extremely modern, as is the hotel's architecture. Staff are both knowledgeable and helpful and they speak several languages -- there is a bus service to central Pisa just around the corner from the hotel and staff can provide timetables and maps.

I found my room very comfortable, and quiet, though I admit took me a few minutes to find out how to switch things on and off. The choice at the buffet breakfast was vast and it would have been easily possible to eat much too much. Only negative for me was the coffee from a vending machine -- and I don't mean Nespresso. But hey, everything else was great.

I was in this hotel with a group having a conference, and some of us had partners with them. Me and my husp were in one of the rooms.
I slept like a baby due to the right tempered airco, and due to the silence. Lovely bed, and soft bed linen.
Water was immediately hot in the shower. Bathroom was huge, and had enough space to disposal female things like make up stuff and so on. What is not common in most hotels. It was well lighted, once you figured out the light button in the mirror. (To put on/off separately) the bathroom was lighted automatically.
Lovely breakfast, with fresh fruit and coffee/ tea to every taste.
I liked the modern architecture, and the style. We had top floor conference hall with the top floor terrace, where our afternoon coffee was served.
Hotel offers shuffle service to the airport and to downtown. It is also well served by city bus (just behind the corner, opposite of the newspaper kiosk, where you need to buy the bus tickets) and 10 min ride.
I suggest this hotel to everyone. It got from me 4* and a + just because it didn't have a pool.

Room Tip: Any room is good.

I booked this hotel for my partners 30th, I paid for an Executive Suite, it was spacious, modern, clean and what i would expect from paying the extra part, it had floor to celing windows and the curtains opened at the flick of a switch automatically, TV on the celing so you could lie in bed watching it, the bathroom was nice although disapointed we requested a jacuzzi and to begin with the first room we were put in was just a shower we phoned reception and were moved straight away to another suite with a bath in it - no Jacuzzi though?
The hotels reception staff were very polite and helped us with any questions we had, a particular mention goes to Luca who was extrememly friendly and proffesional throughout our stay - Thank you.
My only complaint of this hotel was the restaurant staff, they were rude and not once were we greeted throughtout our stay, i think on the first day a young man said hello and offered us coffee but that was after we stood around not knowing what to do! The next 2 days we were completly ignored and we could haev easily walked in and not been at the hotel as nobody spoke to us - I expected better service from a 4 star hotel and was really disapointed as I do like to be treated how I would treat people.
The location of the hotel is out of the city however the bus stop is outside and takes you straight to the train station where you can get trains to Florence/Rome/ etc
Lastly a lot of the reviews recommend the Italian nearby, we went there on the first night and our waiter unfortunatly could not speak English and the entire menu was in Italian, it was a struggle to order and whilst i completly appreciate we were in Italy the other reviews suggest how good the English of the staff were so maybe we were unlucky, they also did not sell Carbonara or Lasagne which we could not believe! But this might be personal preference.
All in all a good stay, I would stay here again if i came back to Pisa.

Room Tip: Executive Suite - worth the extra!
