“Noisy and small”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

We requested a twin room and we provided with a room right down the hall from the reception desk. The room was very small--we spent as little time in the room as possible. The noise from the desk and the breakfast preparations in the morning were too much! If you decide to stay here, be sure to ask for a room on an upper floor and one that does not face the street if possible. The staff was friendly enough.

A very convenient location almost at doorstep of train station. Probably the only thing going for it. Had to wait quite a while the reception kept talking on phone. Staircase only and narrow too, so you will struggle with with larger luggage.

This would have been a 4 star review except for our last morning there. We had an early flight and needed to get to the train station (one block) to catch a bus. The hotel says it opens between 5-6am and we were set to leave at 630a. When we left our room at 625a, the hotel was locked up with no way out. Fortunately the manager awoke about 10-15 minutes later and we made our flight, but that was a few scary moments. The hotel is a little dated but, as I indicated, very close to the train station (and the airport is a 10 minute bus ride away), so location is excellent for a stopover. We used it as a layover point for our Cinque Terre visit as our flights came in and out of Pisa. The area appears a bit sketchy, but we felt safe and had no problem walking around after dark. Room and beds are adequate although the area is noisy. A/C and wifi worked fine. The Leaning Tower is about a half hour walk away (or short bus ride).

Room Tip: ask for a quiet room

We stayed at this hotel beginning of June which was unusually cold at night. My husband is american and I am italian and we are world traveler, so accustomed to different cultures and hotels. I found the location very convenient for the proximity to the train station and the ability of being able to leave the luggage with them since our train was leaving at 5:00pm and we wanted to tour some more of Pisa. It is a nice walk to the leaning tower of Pisa thru a very nice shopping district. They only have few rooms and we chose one on the second floor since reviews warned us the two on the first floor were noisy due to the proximity of the desk and windows don't open since they are next to the street. It is located on a street that seems a little creepy past dark, but no problems during the day.Walls are pretty thin but only few people seem to walk up and down that street. The room has a nice bathroom with hot water ( a nice plus in Europe), very simple decor but clean. You have to leave the key at the front desk when you go out which is typical in Europe. I found this hotel sufficient for our stay and only going to the room for sleep. My husband being american thought it was maybe a little too simple and was also annoyed by the fact that when it got cold at night we were told that since it was June they did not have any heat available. We were given extra blankets. Front desk very helpful and cordial, we were given a nice map of Pisa to help us walk around and see all the sights.

Room Tip: Choose second floor, rooms are quieter than the first.

Exactly 2 minutes from the Central station, this place is tucked away in a nook. Overall, very comfortable rooms. The receptionist Luan was very friendly and helpful. We reached a bit late and had to hunt for dinner options. the neighbourhood gets quite desolate in the night.
Hearty breakfast and efficient service. Overall, a good choice.

Very close to Pisa Centrale just 2 minutes from the station. Neighborhood gets lonely after 9pm. However, the hotel seems safe. Rooms are good. Breakfast comprises of assorted items like croissants, muffins, juice, coffee etc and its unlimited. Very courteous staff at the reception.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

I have stayed at the Hotel Milano, on and off, since 1998 and it has always been an excellence experience. It has been a few years since my last stay so, when I booked a room there for this past week, I was not prepared for the improvements and the even better service I experienced there. This hotel is an incredible value for the money. It is located less than a 3 minute walk from the train station, on a quiet side street. The busses taking you to the sites in Pisa are just minutes away and the airport is, practically, around the corner. The owner and staff are wonderful and we had several chats during the time I was there. There is no elevator but the hotel has, I believe, only 12 rooms and is on two floors so reaching your room shouod not be a problem. The cleanliness is extraordinary. For anyone travelling to Pisa, check our this hotel. I will, I guarantee, be back again!
