“Nice suite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

Hotel Repubblica Marinara is a good hotel. The location is not central but Pisa is a small town, then you can visit the city easily on foot. The hotel is well connected and there is ample parking.
It's a 4 stars hotel, but it is not a superior or or luxury hotel. I appreciate the kindness and helpfulness of the staff, who made us feel at home and helped us with directions.
As for the rooms I think it's necessary to book expensive and high-level rooms to have a nice room. Our suite was spacious and comfortable. I liked the jacuzzi, very relaxing.

This was our last stop in Italy before our flight back home. The hotel was very nice and was recommended by British Airways. The Tiramisu served at the restaurant was particularly good as was the food in general. Breakfast was good as well.

The staff are very helpful and polite. The room was very nice as were the amenities. Perhaps one of the few hotels that provide complimentary bottles of water everyday for their guests. The hotel was a about 10 minutes by cab to Pisa Central station but there is a bus stop about 2 minutes from the hotel and all buses take you to Pisa Central station.

Me & my husband booked this hotel as part of a deal which included flights & we arrived late at night 11.40pm & on arrival were pleased that it looked really nice & reception area is really bright & looks quite smart, however when checking in the man behind the desk said I'm really sorry but we've had a electrical problem & half of the rooms don't have power so were going to transfer you to another 4st hotel. Obviously we were a bit put out by this but were tired so got in the taxi & spent the night in another hotel.
In the morning a shuttle bus picked us up & took us back to the marinara & the staff were very apologetic & gave us a couple of free drinks & sorted a room v quickly. So apart from a bad start we then enjoyed our stay very much & staff are lovely & polite & hotel is clean & runs efficiently. The only down side to this hotel is your quite far from the centre a good 30-40 min steady walk & 50 mins from leaning tower, However it's all flat so no steep hills but remember to wear your flat comfortable shoes.
And on the last note we had a evening meal in the hotel & the steak was gorgeous & with starters & bottle of wine only came to 55.00 euros so well worth a try.

Stayed here for 6 nights during Sept 2012. Arrived at reception - not overly friendly but spoke good English-no info given about breakfast, WIFI or safe keys, so had to contact reception again after. Safe is free to use, just ask for a key to use it in your room. WIFI free and breakfast served from 7am weekdays and 7.30am weekends. First impression of the hotel was that it needed maintenance and did not appear to be a 4 star, even when it was brand new. Room was very clean on arrival, bathroom only a shower and no bath in rooms. No iron provided or tea & coffee making facilities, just hair drier on bathroom wall. Double beds two beds pushed together and duvet very thin-pillows very uncomfy, my advice would be to bring your own! Air con great, worked the whole holiday. One thing I would say is that other reviews had said that it didn't work, this might not have been true as on weekdays the air con is on a timer and does go off-must be controlled by the hotel, so you have to take your room card out of the room slot by the door, wait a minute or so and then put it back in and it comes back on again - don't ask me why. The whole hotel is very much eco friendly so must be part of that. Breakfast-quite disappointing. Can't believe other reviews said it was lovely. They must have gone down at the crack of dawn to get it on a good day! Coffee was cold and awful tasting. Staff were quite unfriendly and not very helpful. Many a time our table was either lacking cups or cutlery, so we then had to wait for one of the ladies to appear was talking in the kitchen to get us what we were missing. 5 cereals are served, around 3 different croissants, 'hot' bacon & eggs (these were very much luke warm), various jams and biscuits, white bread for toast, various teas, hot milk, cold meats and small white bread rolls. No fresh orange is provided or any fresh juices apart from orange squash and mineral water, which we found disappointing, especially as it's so widely available in Italy. Each morning one of the above wasn't available because it wasn't replenished - the staff are very lazy! Your room is cleaned everyday, but only the bed is made-nothing else, sometimes the towels were changed, and we always got 4 more bottles of water in the fridge, which are free while staying at the hotel. No other items in the mini-bar are provided, not even items which cost extra, so luckily there is a corner shop across the road. There are also 2 supermarkets which are a 5 minute drive from the hotel. We didn't try the hotel's restaurant for dinner, but this was mainly because we thought it might be like the service at breakfast, so we were put off a bit. The menu looked reasonably priced though, around 10euros for a main course. There is a small bar in the hotel, which has mainly spirits and a few bottles of wine. The hotel has underground free car parking and other car parking around the back and to the side of it. We could always find a space during our stay which was good. The shuttle bus was nearly always in the underground parking, so I don't think it runs regularly as other reviews have said. We always had a good nights sleep in the hotel, as the blackout curtains are great and windows double glazed, which surprised us as the hotel is directly underneath the flight path for the airport. However the walls are paper-thin and you can hear next door brushing their teeth, so I guess we were just lucky not to be waken in the night by noisy guests. Other reception staff we came across weren't as friendly as on our arrival, especially the manager that has shoulder length hair and appears very arrogant. Overall our impression of this 4 star hotel was just ok, nothing more nothing less. I think they really do need to pick up their game, so I wouldn't expect anything more than what you pay for your stay. We roughly paid £60 a night inc breakfast and we've had better for that price in hotels in the UK. In case you don't know, this hotel and a few others in the area charge 2euros per person per night, which is an additional tax, payable on checking out.

my wife and i enjoyed staying at this hotel, it was a little bit far out from the centre. but we enjoyed walking all over the place, and as long as you have a map your ok. We ate out and about but the breakfast was very good, both hot and cold buffet.

This hotel had nice spacious rooms with a good working aircon and a lovely bathroom. However, there were three of us and we had booked a single room for my cousin and a double for my husband and myself. When we got into my cousin's room, there was a strong urine smell in her bathroom and we could not get the TV to work at all. Our room was nice, airy and no smell. I went to the front desk and my cousin was then given a double room like ours.
Whilst the front desk staff was friendly, getting any information from them was difficult. They spoke good English but we got no information about breakfast times, or the fact that the hotel actually makes you espressos from their bar in the reception area on demand. They also did not say you have to book the free shuttle to the airport they advertise. In the room, there was no literature about the area or the hotel and no TV channel that talked about the area. In fact, the TV channels were all in Italian, there were a great number of channels but no English, German or French channels at all.
The breakfast was good one morning and not so good the next, with no eggs at all and paper cups on porcelain saucers to drink from! The coffee was awful but the staff will make you coffee from the machine in the reception area. Good choice of bread and pastries but one of the jams tasted like it had had mould growing on it. Best to stick to the pre-packed varieties. All in all the rooms were nice but the rest of the hotel was somewhat disappointing.
We found the distance to the town too far to walk and took the bus, (blue line) from outside the hotel to the town centre (Piazza Victoria Emmanuelle) from where you can walk to the tower, the Piazza di Cavalieri etc. Take the bus back from the train station and get off at Via Matteucci Bus stop 2.

Room Tip: Room 111 is the first room next to the reception area and can be noisy with guests and staff talking...

The hotel was very clean, good value for money, and although a way out of the main town not too far to walk. As were travelling with a very full car the overnight garage in the basement was secure so we did not have to worry about the car being on the street. The staff were helpful, the breakfast was good although the scrambled eggs tasted very strangeand quite uneatable. The only downside was they did not have any outside space to sit and when you have been in a car all day the last place you want to be is inside. If we were in the area we would stay again.
