We stayed in this beautifully restored building for a short break.
We found it to be an ideal location a pleasurable walk from the centre and very restful.
They have kept the monastic feel and we liked that, it felt like a retreat but perhaps some find it austere.
Breakfast on the terrace was a delight.
The church next door is well worth a visit.
Staff were very helpful.

THE GOOD:
Hotel seemed promising, and I had hoped for a nice relaxing, peaceful stay.
It is a fantastic building and the staff were fine.
Was nice to sit outside on the patio area on an evening. It is possible to buy snacks and wine and beer - though expensive - better off going to a minimarket.
Breakfast was good enough - pastries, cereal, yogurt, fruit, continental meat and cheeses etc.
I was prepared for the basic facilities, so that suited me fine.
Bus stops just round the corner, taking you to the station, where you can get to the airport easily by train or bus.
Taxi to airport was just under 12 euros.
THE BAD:
Bed was cold and felt almost damp - though it wasn't.
Shower was all limescaled up - had to scrape off the limescale to get a decent shower.
Noisy bathroom extractor fan from next door - very noisy and disturbing in fact.
Noisy doors. I had a shared entrance.
Noisy breakfast room directly below - they were preparing it on the evening and then in the morning.
Last day there was no new soap / shower cap / plastic water cup.
There is no safe in the room.
The wifi was poor - even in the lounge area.
TV reception was bad.
Fine for a cheap stay - but I wouldn't stay longer than my 4 nights. It didn't feel restful and I missed home comforts.
OVERALL:
I enjoyed it overall - but wouldn't stay again - though maybe in the newer rooms in the annex.
If it wasn't for the style and original feel of the hotel - it would be less than average.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the newer annex. Hope for nice weather too - as you won't want to be stuck in...

Its true the rooms are very basic. There were three of us in a room with one bunk bed, a double bed, a wardrobe and very little else. It was a bit of a tight squeeze, and the bathroom was also quite small. But despite this, I still believe this to be a very good hotel simply because of its history and the way it has stuck to its traditional roots. The courtyard is beautiful, and behind the annexed building there is another garden with deck chairs perfect for sunbathing. The breakfast was also very good and all the staff seemed ver friendly. It was in a quiet area of town and only a 5 minute walk to the centre, I didnt feel uncomfortable walking back late at night.

The rooms are large and clean, but mine was not too sunny, and a little damp.

Excellent scenery and service, but maybe not the best choice for a business trip.

This hotel was very interesting, One gets to stay in a monks cell.
We travelled to Pisa in February in a cold snap and the room was very warm.
They have a variety of room sizes and the breakfast was good.
The grounds are lovely the place is clean.
The only disappointing thing was the wi-fi, one must take their laptop down to near the reception area and it was an incredibly weak signal and often loses reception.
Overall a fascinating place to stay.
