We stayed for 4 nights and had the upstairs twin room and the double room, either side of the shared bathroom. Brilliant! Bathroom has soap and bubble bath amd lovely soft toilet paper provided (family size). Shower over the bath with really good pressure and hot water on demand. You need to take all your own toiletries-open bin in bathroom and not one in your room so some items you may wish to dispose of discretely-remember this is NOT a hotel but the best B&B we have ever used!
Clean, comfortable and functional bedrooms for approx £20 each a night-AMAZING!!!!
In addition there was 1 single room upstairs sharing the bathroom. A lovely little balconly lounge with free wifi and a computer for your use-(really useful to find out info we forgot to bring with us ie how to find good places to eat on trip advisor) and a wide upstairs hallway There's a lovely garden and balcony garden but the weaher in late October was not kind for that style of outdoor dining!. Everywhere is beautifullly clean. You feel you have gone to visit Italian relatives who have kindly lent you their house and with even greater generosity given you the keys to the place to come and go as you please!. The breakfast room leads off a delightful kitchen where you help yourself to a huge selection of morning pastries, cakes, biscuits, bread, toast, jam, ham, cheese, fruit, yoghurts, fruit juice, english breakfast tea, the most fantastic coffee, bottled water. Hard boiled eggs are available but the wonderful, extremely friendly and hard working, Ellie (originally from Brazil) who speaks really good English and fluent Italian plus several words in other languages, will now be able to provide you with fried, poached or scrambled egg on toast-we had a quick cookery lesson together!!! There's a microwave which we used to make our own drinks when we returned during the wet weather! Take your own tea bags/coffee and buy your own milk for these occasions please, otherwise you would be abusing their amazing trust in their guests. We made up sandwiches from bread, ham and cheese WE BOUGHT and stored in the fridge. PAM supermarket down a side street in Pisa not far from train station-google directions. Again PLEASE don't abuse the use of the breakfast supplies. Lucca and Giovanni give so much time and thought to their place to ensure you have an amazing stay! Spotlessly clean tiled floors and heavy wooden doors means some guests can disturb you but that's the case where-ever you stay! There appeared to be two family rooms in use downstairs with a shared bathroom between them. Hairdryer provided in the bathrooms which you can plug in to your own room if required. Big bathsheet for each person in the room. No kettle so we used the microwave to boil water. They don't allow you to use the gas cooker unsupervised (thank goodness!!!!!!) They boil water up on the gas stove-I think gas is cheaper than elec!
We walked from the airport and it wasn't easy to find-make sure you google walking instructions from the airport before you leave! We walked across the carpark, straight out of the exit doors of airport (Bus/coach park on your right) and there is a pedestrian crossing across the road and a underpass takes you under the very busy main road. Walk for 10mins and you come to a very busy road junction on your left, cross over this road and walk up this busy side road a short distance and then bear right, up a side street and the property is on your right. Do get a good map!!!!! We were trying to find it in the pouring rain-a really helpful guy who ran a lovely cafe just opposite the busy road junction told us the way and his coffee and pastries gave us the energy to keep going-we had an early ryanair flight and 1 hr delay due to ice on the wings at Stanstead so we were in need of some decent hot drinks!!!!!
Easy walk to train station-approx 10-12 mins-opposite direction from airport! You can buy bus tickets from the train station to the leaning tower-which we did as it was pouring wiht rain-but we walked in the evening when it was dry and it is a lovely walk-much more to Pisa than the tower-check out Gloria's blog "Behind the Tower" for brilliant information!
Before you leave go on the Italian rail site,www.trenitalia.com-click on english and a very easy site to use and book in advance super economy rail tickets and you can visit from Pisa, Rome for 9 euros each way (2.5hr journey no changes), Milan for 9 euros (4hr no change train journey) Venice 9 euros (2.5 hr journey from Milan) Everything is in Italian and ENGLISH even the platform and on train annoucements. You can't book in advance but easy to buy on the day from Pisa train staton return tickets to Florence (14 euros) and Lucca -beautiful walled city (10 euros) Do VALIDATE these tickets BEFORE you get on the train. They WILL fine you 40 euros on the spot if you dont-we saw it happen!!!! A genuine mistake but tough!!!! If you visit this area at the end of October and you are on foot, do consider wet weather clothing-it can really rain hard- pavements etc do dry out quickly-but you dont!!!!
