Owner description: The Tower of Pisa (180 feet in height) was begun in 1173 and, due to its faulty foundation on unstable soil, leans precariously more than 14 feet out of line, preventing visitors from climbing its 300-plus steps to the top.

“It's "little" photo challenge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

We were surprised at how little it really is, but considering it took 3 attempts to complete it I guess it's big enough! From the correct angle you can see how each architect tried to correct the lean. I was able to do it in EVERY picture...yup...every one. Make sure you don't make the same mistake by trying to take a perfect picture. Don't fall into the habit of lining things up. You only need to spend 30 minutes here unless you climb the tower and go inside the baptistry and basillica.

“A worthy side trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

It was really interesting to see such a unique and popular site. The lean is definitely more dramatic seeing it in person. I wouldn't necessarily make Pisa a destination but it is a nice diversion traveling to/from Tuscany and Rome or just traveling the coast.

“Phenomenal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

We could believe our eyes when we were actually standing in Pisa ground looking at the leaning tower of Pisa. The feeling was phenomenal. We did not get to the top because the all the time slots were filled but we were just as trilled to be there & did plenty of Pisa poses. We spent half day sitting on the lawn under shades looking at the tower, the church & many many people doing the pose with Pisa. Near the tower also rows of stalls selling souvenirs. If you only have half day in Pisa, be sure to drop by at the tower. It's well worth it.

“One day in Pisa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

If you're going to spend one day in Pisa you have to see the Leaning Tower. We stayed in Pisa on our way to Tuscany and walked around at night to see it lit up. As another reviewer mentioned they didn't think they would be that impressed and were pleasantly surprised, we felt the same way. It's really beautiful in person and the churches right near it are also very beautiful. Pisa is a pretty happening town at night on the weekend, so it was fun to walk around all the plazas after our visit to the Tower. Well worth saying we've seen the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

“Awsome place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012 via mobile

A must to see. Plenty of little stalls as well. Jf your on a tour the tickets to go up the tower are timed so it might not fit in time wise. There are plenty of places to eat prices as always are very different from place to place
