“Nicer people and better value you could not get in Pisa I am sure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

We needed a stop over night in Pisa before flying home with my three grown up sons and a girlfriend. I wasn't expecting much but was delighted by the incredible kindness of the host as well as the sumptuousness of the breakfast. It is within walking distance of the Tower and the centre and there is parking on the street outside which is really something in Pisa. Our beds were spotlessly clean and we couldn't eat all the breakfast put in front of us. At what amounted to about seventeen pounds a person this is value hard to beat!

Nice and small family hotel with friendly atmosphere.20 mnm walk from the Pisa park. You can also use the bus stop that is near. Its difficult to find it because there in no sign out of the building. Passable breakfast. Free parking spaces.

We have booked a double room 3 months ago, confirmed with the owner over the phone few days before the arrival. Everything seemed to be perfect. Upon arrival we were asked to come back an hour later as our room wasn’t ready yet; fair enough! We got back and found out that our booking is not valid??…we were left disoriented without any explanation, no one wanted to say why, what, how? The owner was really arrogant and as she didn’t speak English was ignoring us from the start, her ‘little helper guy’ was also not keen to talk to us at all even though he was fluent in English. They just couldn’t be bothered to deal with the situation as it was their fault. They have probably made overbookings and as we found out they have a bad reputation in Pisa as cheaters and liars!
We were left without a place to stay and had to wander around the town to find an accommodation.
I do not wish anyone to find themselves in situation like this.

We enjoyed our stay at Gli Arlechini very much. Nishan who is in charge with the bed and breakfast was the nicest and most helpful host. He took care to make us feel really welcome. The place is very pleasant and it has a certain charm and the rooms themselves are well maintained. The setting of the dining room allows people to interact and we made friends there. I'm surprised with the bad reviews for this *bed and breakfast* I see under the reviews section, because although our the room was small, it had a bathroom that was clean, had very colourful bed linens and it had everything we needed. Aside from the beds, table, TV and pegs. it had some vintage furniture which I liked. And there were other rooms, larger, but we intended to spend the time sightseeing rather than stay in the room, so we were very happy. Breakfast was plenty and had various choices.

Alert!!! The indian guy supposedly in charge of this B&B is obviously a criminal who is cheating people who have legimately booked ahead. He told us the place was being "renovated" (which we saw no evidence of because he wouldn't let us in)
and we would have to use the hotel next door which was twice the price. We had to share a room with our friends because only one room was available. He took our 60 euros deposit and did not give it to the hotel, Then said we had to pay 50 euros more. We refused to pay it as we only got one roon. However the next morning when we tried to leave the hotel, the door was locked on us so we were forced to pay so that we could get out and catch our ferry! This man is using this same scam all the time obviously - check the previous review. STAY AWAY.

When we reached the B&B,
an Indian man told us to follow him to another place, which is far away from the original B&B and all tourist attractions without explanation. Once there, we found ourselves having to share the bathroom/toilet with another 3 rooms even though we originally booked for a private en-suite bedroom.

The same Indian man tried to cheat our initial deposit by confusing us that we are supposed to pay our initial deposit again. When we asked if we could pay using Credit Card, that indian man rudely told us that we should have paid at the original B&B site - the thing is we did not even step into the B&B reception and were told to follow that Indian man to another site.
That Indian man insisted that we pay using Cash as he doesn't want to walk us back to the original B&B site.

When it rains, the rainwater will enter your room, making it a feet-soaking environment. The pool of rainwater in our room is estimated to be no less than 25% of our room size.

The breakfast is absolute nonsense and you have to "travel" to another site for breakfast. The place is generally dirty and aircon is not fully functioning. Also, no free internet even though they claimed to provide so.

I strongly urge everyone to stay away from this B&B. They are so many hostels, B&Bs and hotels in Pisa - you can easily find a much better one.
