“Hidden gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

We found this place by accident. From the outside it looked like a bog standard restaurant. But it was surprisingly special. The food and wine was generally very good. The staff were very friendly and professional. They also had an impressive collection of whisky from all over the world. The atmosphere was warm and buzzing. We had a lovely evening here.

“Hard to find but worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

This place is off the beaten path, it is basically down an alley. There is a big red neon arrow on the outside of the building pointing to the door. Once inside you are greeted warmly. The owners are right there to take your coats and seat you. Once inside the room there are 16 tables, I think we counted 64 chairs. The first time we went in, there were only two other tables occupied and we thought we might have made a bad choice. Within the hour it was packed. We did not have a reservation so we felt lucky to get in. The menu has something for everyone. I told the waiter I had celiac and he guided me through the menu like he had clearly done this many times before. We ordered a fantastic bottle of wine and were brought bread, (gluten free for me) and I also got breadsticks which was a nice surprise. The first time we visited we started with the pumpkin shrimp soup. It was steaming hot and amazing. We each got different entrees and were all happy with our choice. The desert menu is a must. While we were there we saw some terrific presentations. One bottle of champagne was brought to the table in a big ice bucket on a trolley with a big silver knife. The waiter cut off the top with one big swing. It was impressive. Also, someone got a beautiful cut of beef that was sliced at the table. Our flight was canceled home and we “had” to stay an extra night in Pisa so we decided to eat here again. It was just as incredible as the first time. My husband actually got two deserts, one to eat the next day. We brought our 12 year old and she was perfectly happy. There were children here every time we came, there is a children’s menu for age 10 and under. It is a very small restaurant so this is not a place for kids if they have trouble sitting still. This would be a great place to go as a small group or for a romantic night out. Make a reservation to be safe. 050 20506

“Whisky Galore”

Stunning food and service - very very friendly. We ate there twice on our honeymoon in October 2009 and thoroughly enjoyed the wine and the amazing array of Scotch Whisky

“Lush !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

You would never find this fantastic place off your own back, as it is hidden down a small alley, We were directed to it by The Hotel Bologna and felt the need to write a review, as the quality was so good.
The owner is a great guy and made every effort to advise and help with any questions, the wine list was extensive but the Whiskey & Brandy collection is even more impressive.
We eat Cheese cake starter with three different cheeses in a crisp pastry, alongside Hams and Walnuts in aspic, a whole Sea Bass served at the table with fruit and custards for pudding, all super well cooked and with quality ingredients.
Cannot praise the quality enough, would love to have such a great place in Bristol.
If your in Pisa, hunt this one out, you will not be disappointed.
