We loved our one night stay at this locanda. Other reviewers have complained about the inability of one of the family members to speak English. She met us, directed us to the parking lot and was able to give us all the information we needed, both upon arrival and check-out. She was friendly and helpful. It isn't an issue so don't let that keep you from booking. The inn is charming, housed in what appears to be an old wealthy merchant house. Breakfast is served on a lovely, relaxing elevated terrace and is more than adequate. We particularly enjoyed the bucellato, a local bread specialty flavored with anise that was good enough to get us to the bakery to buy our own loaf. We would definitely stay again. The only drawback for us is that it was impossible for our GPS to get us out of Lucca. Certainly not the fault of the locanda, however! Next time we will leave our car outside the wall.
