“Charming and a great bargain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2011

I stayed at La Torre for 4 nights - I had a double room for single use for 35 Euros. The building shows its age and the decor could use some updating, but my room was clean and comfortable, with a giant bed. There were two communal bathrooms right down the hall. Again, the fixtures were a bit old, and neither one was very large, but they were cleaned well every morning and I never had to wait to use one. The breakfast is probably one of the best you'll find in Italy - fresh rolls, prosciutto, cheese, eggs, and fresh fruit from the owner's farm. The staff was also very friendly and helpful and seemed to care about making your stay pleasant. Also, if you bring your laptop, there's free (and dependable!) wireless throughout the hotel.

In sum, with the breakfast and internet, the place is really a steal. Its charm and character make up for the minor cosmetic defects. I would definitely stay here again.

All positive things, which I have read from this small hotel, come true. We stay only one night, but it was still a small experience for us. We haven’t made reservation before. The owner was very helpful, he found us a free parking place, drove us between hotel and our car and etc. Breakfast was really good and owner’s wife was, as here someone has said, really Italy Mama. We enjoy a lot off our staying in La Torre. Try this, great experience!

Lucca is one of my favourite places in Italy and the accommodation at La Torre is forgiven any blemish because the breakfast with Mama is a treat worth being there. Our room was in a 13th Century building around the corner form the main building, so as expected the decor was very average. Updating anything in Lucca has to be done very carefully and within very strict rules. Marco we thank you for a wonderful stay in your fabulous town. We loved the Puccini concert and would love to come back to Lucca sometime.

We stayed in the apartment overlooking the Amphitheatre for 13 nights, which is basic, but clean and comfortable. A generous breakfast was provided at the main address, and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. Minor problems (some lights not working) were fixed promptly.
This is a charming location and observing life in the amphitheatre from the apartment window is always fascinating, but be warned, the cafes surrounding this apartment can be very noisy until well after midnight.
There is much to see and do in Lucca, consider spending a few days here to absorb the local atmosphere. Not a cheap town, but well worth it for the experience.

We booked this B&B before our departure from the UK. When we arrived, we were taken by car to "Torre 2", which is about 5 blocks away. This "annexe" is nothing like described on their website. The rooms, although spacious, were not clean. The shared bathroom was disgusting, had no toilet seat and was the other side of a dingy hallway from our room. Security was also a concern, as it seemed our room key did not only unlock the door to our room. The breakfast, 5 blocks away at La Torre, was also a disappointment. The bread was mouldy, and altogether unpalatable.

Unfortunately there is no guarantee when you book this place which premises you will be placed in, therefore I have to advise you not to book this place.

During our 2night stay in Lucca my spouse and I decided to stay at La Torre B&B under the suggestion of a friend that had transitted through the town the year before. We enjoyed the picturesque town which is more 'intimate' than other better known Tuscan cities. Nice to walk, ride bicycles both within and on the medieval walls. Our stay at this B&B was exceptional. Under owners' directions, we drove to a convenient location and he picked us up to reach the center of town. He was also very helpful recommending sights to be visited and where to eat. The B&B has a nice atmosphere and clean. Very fare in price. Kudos to the staff!

Nice homely place, although when you do stay there (especially when I went in July) bring your mosquito repellent.

The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The home cooked breakfast was awesome. The rooms are pretty basic and there is a communal bathroom. And it wasn't exactly the best bathroom amenities i've had.

However, it's a good location and one i'd stay at again. Especially for 50 euros a night. Free internet was good too.
