“Great Location, Superb Service and Nice Accomodations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2011

Our family of 5 really enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Al Tuscany on the start of our Italian vacation. We stayed in two upper loft rooms, which were sufficient (although the slope ceiling did present some opportunity to bump your head). Claudio is an excellent host, and Marina couldn't have been any better in helping to make our stay so enjoyable. I would not hesitate to go back again.

Al Tuscany was the perfect place for our four night stay in Lucca. It is located inside the walls close to Piazza Napoleone and Piazza S. Michele. Our room (#3) was actually two rooms. Both had double beds and the larger of the two had two desks, a couch and two chairs. The bathroom had a very nice shower and everything was very clean. Our host, Claudio, was warm and generous. He recommended restaurants, offered us a discount for tickets to a concert and encouraged us to eat anything we wanted from the kitchen. Our room also had a refrigerator. Breakfast was served in a very pretty dining room. Fresh fruit, cheese, yogurt, bread, egg.....plenty to eat. If I am lucky enough to visit Lucca again, I will definitely stay at Al Tuscany.

Our one night stay at this bed&breakfast in the very pretty town of Lucca was satisfactory. The welcoming by the owner was friendly and he had a lot to say. Some might find it a bit too much, but he was just being helpful. He provided us with a parking pass for a public parking lot which costs 6 euros a day and he added onto our bill at the end of the stay.
The breakfast arrangement is not for everyone either, as you are forced to sit around a large table with any other guests that are staying at the hotel. The food was sufficient and not bad. Again, the owner was willing to help and asked if there was anything else we wanted.
When we were leaving the owner offered to ride his bike to the place where we parked our car to get the pass back from us so we wouldn't have to drive back to the hotel to return it to him. This man was clearly making an effort to make our lives easy, which was rare on our trip through Italy and much appreciated.
If you are thinking of staying here you should consider getting a Suite as the standard double room we stayed in was very small.

Made to feel very at home. Claudio and Marina could not have been more helpful and by the end of our stay felt like friends. We will miss them - and the dog, Jerry. Couldn't recommend Al Tuscany highly enough.

Very inflexible cancellation policy. They require 25 hr. I called 48 hr in advance and they insisted on me emailing them which I could not do. rude and inflexible and charged my card despite the 48 hr notice.

We had the most brilliant stay in Al Tuscany for our friend's wedding weekend and my husband's birthday. It is a beautiful traditional Tuscan Renaissance- type house with stunning high ceilings and gorgeous views of theTuscan roof tops of Lucca (ask for the room with the view).

The owners could not be more warm and welcoming, Marina especially did so much to make us feel welcome and told us exactly where to go around the City and kindly went out in her spare time to get my husband a surprise birthday cake and bottle of wine which i had emailed them in advance to ask for. Such kindness we have rarely seen and we were overwhelmed about this place. Excellently central and so much more genuine than a hotel. Lovely having breakfast all around the same table as the other guests. Great B&B with the most lovely people. We would love to return!!

Right in the center of the old city a few steps from the sights and shopping the Al Tuscany provides a great base. The rooms are typical Italian hotel but we did stay when it was cool and I am not sure that this would be a great place if it was really hot, no AC.

The staff is super helpful, when we asked where we could have our laundry done they loaned us their washer and dryer. Breakfast around a large table is a great way to meet the other guests and learn about the area.

The establishment is on the upper floors of the building but does have a lift.
