Lovely hotel, perfectly positioned to explore the beautiful town! Room was spacious and opened our windows to a beautiful view of the square.

The hotel is tradional Italian grandure, no mod cons but the air con did the job in the 90 degree heat.

There was a range of couples with our holiday party and all from different backgrounds and we all said we'd go back to the same hotel and can't wait to go back to Lucca.

what a total disapointment, my husband had always wanted to stay here. from the outside it looked like we were going to step back in history and stay in a magnificent hotel.....how wrong we were!! the reception staff were unfriendly they were boardering on rude. the rooms were awful with odd sized single beds pushed together and the bathroom was cold and full of mildew. the toilet was far from clean.....and as for the breakfast, if you like luke warm bitter coffee and cold boiled eggs you will enjoy. this was a complete diasapointment considering the wonderful location.

We found this hotel easy to find once we arrived by train. The receptionist was very helpful. the room was small but very comfortable. Great to have your own bathroom. Breakfast was served n the dining room each morning and was very good. The hotel is in a great position with bars and restaurants all around. We went back a few streets and found some very good local restaurants with great a great local menu. Saturday night it seems the whole of Lucca comes to this area to be seen. Everyone dresses up and just mill around chatting. Great place will come back some day and we would stay in this hotel again great value and quiet.

I stayed here on holiday this year in August. I booked a classic superior room which was clean and had a view over the piazza below. It was also very small and a bit basic. The main problem was the shower - the bathroom had modern fittings but the shower cubicle was very very small - you bang your elbows just reaching for the soap. This would have been fine for a few days but not for the week we had planned. However, following an issue with the air-conditioning we were upgraded to a deluxe room by the VERY helpful and friendly staff and what a difference! It was like a loft-style apartment with a walk-in shower and loads of space. It did not look out over the square but this was in fact a good thing because it was much quieter!

Breakfast is included and was adequate - there is not a huge choice if you are used to buffet-style breakfasts and the breakfast room is very cramped and a bit dingy. Everything that was supposed to be fresh was very fresh though and there was plenty of it. Set up of the food buffet could be a lot better with drinks on a separate table which would ease the flow and a lick of paint in a lighter colour would make it a more pleasant environment.

The hotel as a whole has a wonderful feel of faded grandeur and is in SUCH a good location. You are a stroll away from restaurants, bars, churches, museums plus the city walls and the train station. We really enjoyed our stay but if you can afford the deluxe room then I'd recommend you go for it.
