“Excellent choice for Lucca”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2010

We loved this hotel. The rooms are well-sized and gorgeously decorated - in a very romantic style. The buffet-style breakfast was excellent. The hotel is well-located for easy access to the Via Fillungo, the main commercial street. My only complaint is that it was a bit of a trek from the train station. I would highly recommend the hotel and Lucca. It is a beautiful city well worth a one or two night stay.

First time travellers to Lucca/Italy, we stayed at Alla Corte Degli Angeli after reading all the positive recommendations on this site. We arrived to Lucca by car for a wonderful 2 night stay. After a few trips around the city walls, we eventually found our way in and had no trouble following the directions to the hotel. We were immediately met by friendly staff who took our luggage to our room and parked our car in the safe and secure private parking lot ($15e). We had a wonderful big room, that was very nicely decorated, had great bathroom and was very clean. The location was perfect, close to the tourist office, bike rentals, main square, shopping and restaurants. There is a nice lounge area with a computer available for use. Every morning we were welcomed to large breakfast area with a large selection of food. The train station is a short walk away for day trips to Cinque Terre. Sadly, we didn't make the day trip and opted to spend some time enjoying this incredible walled medieval city. There is an amazing path all along the top of the wall that surrounds the city and has great views. We highly recommend taking some time to rent bikes and see all the great things Lucca has to offer. Overall, this b & b really helped make a fantastic honeymoon to Italy and look forward to returning.

We stayed for 1 night at Alla Corte Degli Angeli on our way to France. I only wished we could have stayed longer. This is a real 4 star hotel superbly located in the heart of Lucca down a lovely narrow street. We arrived by car and after unloading, parked the car in an area used by the hotel a few metres up the street. Parking was 15 euro per night. We had the Tulipanio room which was absolutely lovely. With its Tuscan style ceiling, fantastic bathroom, nice furniture and painted frescos on the wall, the scene was set for a superb stay! We had just enough time to explore Lucca before dinner and spent several hours browsing the shops and exploring the narrow medieval streets. There is a small restaurant just up from the Hotel on the same side - turn left out of the hotel door and its up on the left. Blink and you would miss it. The great thing about it is, that you eat opposite it al fresco style in a beautiful candlelit courtyard. The food was fantastic and it was very romantic. Breakfast at the hotel consisted of an enormous array of cereals, fruits, hams, freshly squeezed orange juice etc.

I would love to return to Lucca and I would certainly stay at Alla Corte Degli Angeli again.

This is a small boutique hotel in the center of the walled city of Lucca. Within walking distance of everything worth seeing! Very intimate an immaculate. Our room was large and decorated with lovely wall paintings of flowers and angels and genuine antique furniture and carpets. The bathroom was also sizeable. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Overall, it was a charming hotel.

From the moment we arrived we knew that we were in for a treat. Gabriella saved us, and our car, from the enchanting maze of roads and personally navigated us to the hotel's excellent parking. The hotel is beautifully decorated and a real treat to visit. However, the real surprise was our room, Orchidea, whose walls were covered in the most beautiful frescoes. It was all too easy to be lost in the frescoes and not appreciate the ample space of the room and how well appointed it is, but not as well as the bathroom which demands you to have a long soak in the enormous bath. The ample and delicious breakfast will set anyone up for a vigorous walk around the City Walls.

We stayed at Hotel Alla Corte Degli Angeli late in July during the Puccini festival. The hotel is ideally located in the centre of the old town and within easy walking distance to all of the attractions, shops and restaurants. It also had a free car park located opposite the hotel. The roads are narrow and a bit hairy!
Breakfast was a fantastic buffet with everything that you could want and it was served in the dining room on the ground floor.
Bedrooms were spacious with great airconditioning and were also quiet at night. There was a lift to get all the luggage upstairs. Internet was also available at no cost and there was a small bar where drinks were available.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful and happy to provide recommendations on where to eat. We ate twice at the Osteria on the corner near the hotel and it was first class.
We stayed in Lucca to be near Lajatico where the Andrea Bocelli outdoor concert was being held. It was a great location and we were able to arrange return transfers to the concert.

This was our third visit to this small family run hotel in the heart of the walled town of Lucca. It is only a few steps away from the Vila Filungo (the main shopping street) and close to the Piazza Anfiteatro and the Palazzo Pfanner, with its small but ornate garden. There are many restaurants nearby, including the excellent Cantine Bernardini. Each room in the hotel is decorated with a fresco on a floral theme, which continues into the bathroom. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and equipped with i-pod docks and flat-screen tvs. The breakfasts are excellent – as are the quirky egg-cups and 'crushed' ceramic coffee beakers. The staff are very friendly, helpful and professional.
