“Lovely stay in Lucca and this was one of the reasons”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

We had a triple room for 2 nights - a double bed plus a sofa bed. It was alright as far as space was concerned as we didn't spend too much time in the room. What really stood out for this hotel was the excellent service by the owner and his family. The owner was there both mornings to make sure that all the guests were well attended to and his son helped with our bags and made great recommendations for dining and bike rental at a nearby rental where we could see that the lady owner really took pride in keeping her bicycles in good and clean condition. All the other staff we encountered (night desk, breakfast service) were also very friendly and helpful.

Our tour group stayed at this hotel and it is just delightful. A wonderful staff (family owned) go out of their way to please. Walking distance to great restaurants, shopping and sights. The morning breakfast is a pleasant assortment of savory dishes. Fresh pastry, eggs, bacon, fruit, yogurt, cereal and more. Rooms are charming, clean and quiet. Lucca is an enamoring city, hard not to fall in love with it. If you get a chance to visit, stay at Hotel Palazzo Alexander

Room Tip: I had a room on second floor in the front and it was quiet (streets are very narrow, so very minimal...

Lucca a little pearl amongst other cities. Renaissance walls and ancient medieval architecture. It feels for me like a second home cause it is very compact and cute. Walking or biking the best way to admire the astonishing decor-Shops-Cafés-Musea & great restaurants...

A must walking on the walls: They are a pedestrian promenade which encircles the whole old town.

Restaurants i tried out:
Osteria Miranda
Buca di Sant' Antonio
Osteria Baralla
Bastian Contrario

Palazzo Alexander a small little exquisite family hotel!

This is a great place to stay in beautiful Lucca: perfectly situated within the old walls, within walking distance of restos, attractions and the train station. The decor is wonderfully quaint, packed with Old World charm. The staff was efficient and friendly. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN!!!

What a great find in Lucca - a cute little hotel with great service and friendly staff. Our group stayed in the hotel for two nights and we couldn't have been treated with better care. We did have some issue with the air conditioning not working, but it was rectified the very next day and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. Lucca is small and easily walkable - you can walk to the hotel from the train station in about 10 mins, but there are some pathways of gravel, so if you are pulling a suitcase, I don't suggest you do.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second or third floor are a bit quieter than the first.

Well it was a fabulous one night stay In a beautiful town of lucca. Mario was so very helpful even helped us with what to do during our summer Tuscan break. He couldn't do enough for us. Room was fabulous, staff fabulous. It feels like we stumbled on a secret hotel.... Anyone who wants a lovely restful place to stay you need to stay here. Cannot recommend it highly enough!

Lucca is a magic city!
Just wandering and soaking it in is wonderful - the beautiful walk round the wall, the narrow streets where bicycles, small cars, and people seem to merge quite contentedly together, the tiny little lanes, the wide piazzas.......
Lovely restaurants seemingly on every corner: stunning shops, beautiful churches and, always, a Puccini concert!

We stayed here for 6 nights - could happily have been a lot longer, and we stayed in this hotel where we were comfortable and extremely well cared for.
Our host Mario and his wife and son were very warm and friendly and seemingly could not do enough for us.

Would I go back to Lucca? Of course I would!
Would I stay at the Hotel Palazzo Alexander again? Certainly!
