We were travelling with our adult son and required a 3 bed room. The room was in the main block and modern, with plenty of space and a large, well equipped bathroom. We faced onto the street outside but there was no noise problem. Other members of our group stayed in the annexe a little way down the road; rooms were noticeably better appointed here, including some very nifty electric doors on a cupboard! Staff on reception were welcoming and helpful. The free refreshment area was fantastic - the first one we have come across in our travels, we couldn't quite believe it! It would be quite possible to have a large breakfast, skip lunch and just top up from the snacks/drinks. Staff also realised that it was one of the party's 80th birthday and sent out a bottle of prosecco and snacks within an hour of arrival - fantastic! - which we enjoyed on the outside terrace. Free bikes were a plus that were well used. The onsite parking is good for those who worry about their cars, but it is tight; there is much manoeuvring of vehicles by one of the members of staff and they will move cars around as necessary as they like to have the keys. A really good hotel, within the city walls, from which to discover Lucca and the surrounding countryside.
