“Biking and winetasting in Chianti”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

We were four guys who had three days and two nights to spare in Tuscany, and contacted Tuscan Bike for a custom tour. The 390 euro we spend each, was worth every cent. Andrea and his team suggested to stay in Radda in Chianti. It was a wonderful place and the hotels that were picked out for us (Vignale and Palazzo Leopoldo), were excellent. The three routes that Andrea designed consisted of both paved and dirt roads, mostly without traffic. The best wine-tasting on the trip was Castelvecchi, while the best food was unexpectedly the 35 dollar wine-tasting menu at the little restaurant just oustide Castello Brolio. We loved the scenary, the service and couldn't have done this on our own.

“Wine tasting Tour and Bike Hire”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

We were only in Lucca for three nights but took a tour with Paolo one day and hired bikes on another. The tour into Montecarlo was excellent showing basic wine making in a traditional farm followed by a state of the art modern methods in a large winery. Lunch was provided and we really enjoyed the differences seen. The bikes were hired an the next day allowing us to ride round the ramparts and then take a ride along the river to a small village,

True, beautiful days, thanks to the places visited, the weather, the wine but also you helped to make it perfect.

“Great time exploring hills of Lucca & Montecarlo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012 via mobile

Everyhing about our interaction with Paolo at Tuscany Ride a Bike was fantastic! We emailed with him a few days before arriving in Lucca, as my husband and I wanted to do some biking but were unsure what the weather and terrain would be. Paolo made several suggestions of routes, tours and weather predictions - we ended up picking the ride & wine tour option. Not only was it a great combination of scenery and biking, Paolo was extremely generous with the ride options, conversation, and general suggestions for other things to do in Lucca. He clearly cares about his clientele and made us feel like old friends - he even suggested several local ( no touristy) restaurants for us to eat at during the rest of our stay. If not for Paolo, we would not have had such a wonderful weekend in Lucca!

As for the ride, I'm fit but not in the best shape so I was happy to know that Paolo could accommodate fast ( my husband) and slow riders (me). Our tour followed the Strada del Vino in Lucca to Montecarlo - ending at a beautiful winery where we had several tastings and a typical Tuscan "lite" lunch. I was tired from the first part of our day so Paolo took us back on a flatter route - which was extremely kind after so much food!

I would recommend Paolo's business to anyone who wants an authentic experience.

Too easy: Saturday banks and tax offices are closed and they do not call you asking money, no work required, alone with Chiara at the farm, customers who become friends after ten minutes. Unfortunately there are not many days of "work" so nice.

“Ride a lap of the walls - or three!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

The first thing we did when we arrived at Lucca was to hire bikes and cycle a couple of laps of the wall. A great way to get your bearings and assess the lay of the land. We hired basic Polo bikes and it was just €3 an hour. Make sure you have driving license with you as they keep it as a deposit. The bikes aren't great but you don't need anything fancy as once you’re up the ramp the walls are flat and smooth. Take a bottle of water and take your time... still only takes 20 mins max to do a lap. Then treat yourself to a Gelato and wonder through the streets (the second thing we did in Lucca).
