We spent 3 nights at Palazzo Rocchi and on our arrival we were greeted by the other owner who I think was called Pauletta who told us that the home had belonged to her family and remembers running around it as a small child.
She recommended a fantastic place to eat called "Ristorante Giglio" only a 5 minute walk away, she even phoned up and booked for us.

Our 3 night stay was in one of the smaller rooms and although it is not anything like as luxurious as the suites it is still tastefully and sympathetically decorated and has a real old world charm.
It also has the use of a large Central Hall, beautifully decorated and ideal for meeting friends if there are a few of you staying.

Both these double rooms face onto the square and although it was a little noisy early in the evening it had quitened down considerably by 23:00, certainly not noisy enough to keep us awake.

The occupants of the two double rooms take their breakfast side by side in the reception near Roberto's desk. It is a little unusual being served your breakfast at the side of Roberto, busy running his business but the breakfast is more than adequate and we found the ladies who served us very helpfull and very charming. It's a little like staying with relatives.

Obviously it would have been nice to be offered the suite upgrade like many have on this site but that doesn't take away from the fact that this is a unique location in Lucca and my wife and I had a wonderful stay.
It would not be possible to mark this hotel at any less than the full 5 stars but like most on here, it's one of the suite's for us next time!

Thanks Pauletta and Roberto for a fantastic stay.

Lovely Lucca and stunning Palzzo Rocchi......go here if you want to be charmed and relaxed with fine dining all around and wonderfully decorated rooms, this is indeed a little italian piece of heaven.
Roberto will book anything to make your stay perfect, pointing out brilliant restaurants and walks, where to hire bikes, which trains to catch, whatever you need to make your stay easier.
The position is perfection , it just cant get any better in Lucca. We stayed in a very comfortable suite which did not have the lovely terrace that i wanted but was very spacious and we had a brilliant nights sleep in the very quiet bedroom. The kitchen is well equiped and it was relaxing to have so much space. The shower and bathroom could be improved and are not of a luxury standard but some of the other rooms which Roberto kindly showed us were much smarter and I would definately return to one of these next time.

Room Tip: the rooms facing the inner courtyard were incredibly quiet but the rooms facing the piazza had the b...

For our final night in Italy on Honeymoon we stayed in Palazzo Rocchi. Arriving slightly early, we were fortunate to be let in by the maid, and shown to our room - an upgrade to the tower suite over looking the square. The room was lovely, and had a great view over the piazza. Whoever doesnt want that view must be crazy, and it was great for watching the world go by! The room was generally very clean, and the next day we were served a lovely breakfast in our room, after a very quiet and peaceful nights sleep. The part-time reception set-up meant we only finally met the charming owner Roberto on our exit the next day, so it was a very hands off experience, which for us was perfect. We would definitely stay here again, and thank Roberto for our upgrade and a lovely stay.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012 via mobile

This review focusses on the double room, not the suites. We stayed three nights in Palazzo Rocchi in the double room (I believe Rosa) overlooking the square. The welcome was friendly after our trip from Lerici. This place certainly has a special feel to it but fails to deliver the luxury it promises. At least if you don't rent a suite. The host/owner is very friendly so is staff that organizes the breakfast. The square gives a great atmosphere but can be noisy on a Friday or Saturday night.' Italians know how to party ;) breakfast is good for Italian standards about the same as in three star Italian hotels. Than again it is authentic which suits Palazzo Rocchi. Basically breakfast is being served in the reception lobby which takes away the romance. Guests in the suites are served in their suite I believe. Our room was nicely decorated and spacious. Not like in the pictures which are mostly if not all from the suites. Unacceptable is the cleanness with dust building up in corners. I'm allergic to dust :( The fridge wasn't working but we never bothered to get it fixed. The room has an excellent bed and the shower was good. We enjoyed our stay but next visit we would definitely stay in one of the suites.

The insignificant door off the Piazza belies what lies above! We were greeted by Roberto who said that he had bad news. He had had to upgrade us to a suite which proved to be really sumptuous! I can honestly say that we had never stayed anywhere more luxurious and comfortable. There were other nice touches such as the tray of aperitif drinks laid out in the lounge at no charge. Breakfast was served in our own private suite and very good it was. This was our last day in Italy and a fitting finish to a wonderful trip.

Room Tip: From other comments, it is clearly better to have one of the rooms not facing the piazza.
