We've just returned after spending 3 nights at villa cheli. The hotel itself is lovely and our room was spotlessly clean. The room itself was quite big however the bathroom and shower cubicle were very small. A bonus was having a fridge in the room which was great for drinks in the 32 degree days. I was a little put off by the noisy busy road when we first arrived as I had wanted a tranquil countryside relaxing few days. The road is about 500 yards down the nice long driveway however the traffic never stops!! Even after 10pm it was still very noisy and busy from our room at the top of the hotel. However - at the back of the hotel the pool area is walled and I couldn't hear the road at all so I was happy again. The pool area is very nice and the pool itself is quite big.
Breakfast was the usual continental - cereals, bread with a toaster and jams, honey etc. there were also croissants, ham, cheese, pain au chocolat, juice, coffee etc. we only ever ate outside in the lovely forecourt area so I don't know what indoors was like. The restaurant in the evenings was okay although we only ate their once and we were still full from lunch in pisa.
Pisa is around 10-15 mins drive away. Lucca is about 10 mins and was a much nicer place to visit than Pisa, don't miss it. Florence was around 50 mins drive away. There was a bus stop outside the hotel but I'm not sure about times etc. one down side was having nowhere to go for a walk. The hotel was surrounded by private land and there was no real footpath along the very busy road so we had the drive everywhere.
Overall a lovely clean, quiet hotel perfect for our 3 day Tuscany visit.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Hello everybody! I am the owner of Hotel Ristorante Villa Cheli and my name is Vincent. Today I decided to write a review to tell a little bit of our house .. Villa Cheli is a colonial villa built in 1700 , formerly owned by the family Cheli . The last owner was a sculptor , a sculptor of chalk. During the restoration , in fact , we found some of his works in the attic .. And we thought .. Why not share it with our guests ? Coming to visit us in fact you can admire them within the walls (internal and external ) of the Villa .. A bit ' as we were in a museum. The hotel rooms are located on three floors .. The first floor, the main floor of the Villa, are situated the suite and two rooms overlooking the balcony .. The second floor rooms with large windows and high ceilings on the third floor .. Instead there are the most romantic rooms with sloping roof with exposed beams and small skylights in the ceiling. On the ground floor, in addition to the reception, we have our own restaurant, open for the summer season , from March to November , that in addition to the typical dishes of Italian cuisine in general , it also offers some taste of the Tuscan tradition and Lucca. And for relaxation ? Do not miss our pool and our wellness area! All the staff and me we will be happy to welcome you in the warmest way possible and help you with all your needs ... more less
