Last night we had the best dinner so far on our Italian trip at this restaurant. The first course was generously-sized pasta-shrimp combo, "Tagliolini alla Gallinella," and the egg noodles were a dream: rich and delicate and succulent. That alone would have made a wonderful meal, but then the helpful waitress brought a tray with two giant fresh fish for us to choose from: One was the lovely branzino, which is difficult to find in the US, having to be flown in from Europe. But here was the sea-fresh animal right in front of us. Simply baked, with a mountain of grilled fresh vegetables on the side, this Branzino al Forno con verdure, was exquisite.
It should be noted that the servings of both primi and secondi were large and very reasonably priced.
The restaurant has a fine wine selection, so we had a very, very good Rossa di Montalcino 2009 with our dinner.
The staff was gracious and helpful, so all in all, it was an excellent evening.
