We made the trip up to Fiesole and fully enjoyed it. It's short walk up the hill towards the monastery, I think some other reviewers exaggerate regarding the challenge of it, but that's subjective. The views on Florence are great, an excellent photo moment, you can see the whole city beneath you. Don't forget to climb a bit further to the monastery, it's definitely worth to take a quick look inside, amazing to see how the monks used to live there, and still do.

The view is to die for and the steep climb almost kills you, but it is so worth the effort! The museum at the top is very interesting and there is also a quaint little store, with home made goods. The exercise will help you work off all that wonderful italian food!

The walk up can be challenging for some but well worth it! Beautiful, peaceful. Amazing views, interesting grounds to explore. Unfortunately we were not able to have dinner at the restaurant.....next trip!

We were staying in Florence for 2 weeks and using it for our base to explore some of the surrounding areas. Fiesole is an easy and inexpensive bus ride from Florence. Grab the #7 bus from Piazza San Marco and 20-30 minutes later you are in Fiesole. Bus ticket is less then $2 USD and drops you off right in the main square of Fiesole. We knew nothing about the museum before arriving in Fiesole. I know, bad us for lack of planning! But we had read about the steep road to the top of a hill overlooking Florence in the distance so we wandered up the road. It is a great view but the best surprise (to us at the time) was this great little museum. It's also free! They take donations and we gladly tossed in a few euro. This museum has some interesting items in a few rooms (mummy, pottery, jewelry, art, coins, religious artifacts). There is even a small gift shop near the church where you can purchase the usual post cards, books and religious items as well as water and ice cream. There is a nice area to sit and enjoy the views of the convent. If you have an extra couple of hours while you are in Florence and want to get away from the massive amount of tourists give this small museum a look. It's well worth it.
