“Ddefinitely worth the visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

Fiesole was a surprise side trip and we were so pleasantly amazed. Much better than Rome Colosseo, this ruin is so beautiful and arresting that everyone must come and see. Fiesole is really great. Come in the late afternoon and take pics at the ruins when the sun starts to go down behind the cathedral. walk up the hillside and visit Francesco Monastery and watch the sunset over the beautiful Florence city. The best.

“Very interesting ancient ruins and good museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

This site has both a museum and a good view of ancient Roman and Etruscan ruins. Nearby is another museum that has some interesting old paintings and statuary. If you are not overloaded yet, this is well worth the scenic trip up to see these.

“Great Day Trip Away from Florence; take the Bus!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

I highly recommend this daytrip that is a comparative short local bus ride "up the hill" overlooking Florence. A great respite from crowded and sometimes sweltering Florence!

These Roman and Etruscan ruins are some of the most intact remnants of a powerful empire...
If you haven't figured it out yet, GET THE FIRENZE PASS while in Florence which allows you to hope on the local bus for a 26 minute run up to Fisole. Entrance is included in the FIRENZE PASS which lasts for 72 hours for unlimited hop on, hop off privileges on bus and includes entrance to ALL of the major attractions (including this site, the Statue of David at the Accadmia Gallery, Pitti Palace, Uffizi Gallery, Duomo, Baptistery, Michelangelo's home, etc...). You can purchase the pass in advance, but will need to activate at one of the MANY activation sites...time your trip itinerary well so you can take full advantage of the pass....

We took advantage of the free use of the I-pad Tablet checked out by the staff at the entrance to the site. Take the time to walk about and take it all in...we walked around the quaint town and up the vertical streets for birds-eye views of Florence....There is wheelchair access to the ruins, but the rest of Fiesole is on a hill...We just happened to be there the day before the UCI Road World Championships 2013 bike races, so it was exciting to see the contestants practicing the hills, twist and turns in Fiesole!

“back in time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

On the hillside next to Firenze is the town of Fiesole. Alongside great overviews of the city in the valley below, this town has an attraction of its' own. The Roman Theatre is a nice place to visit. Take the free audio tour (tablet), for extra information and wander through the ruins. The bath-house next to the theatre is also excavated and remarkably well preserved.

“Worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

There are some problems with the lay out, but the history of the site, from Etruscan and Roman times, makes this worth a visit.
