Piatti&Fagotti is an excellent lunch place. Maybe not for everyday lunch, because of the relatively high price (relatively for a lunch place) and due to the fact it is easy to indulge too much in sampling the menu! Now the actual review.
The place is very tight, the tables are crammed and the atmosphere is jovial, on the loud side. My opinion is that this is part of the style of this place and I did not get upset by eating so close to strangers. The bathroom was spotless and exquisitely furnished.
The personnel is absolutely fantastic, friendly and witty and, of course, knowledgeable about the food.
I am Italian but not from Tuscany (Lombardy) and the menu is an extremely interesting cultural experience. It is a concentrate of opportunities to taste traditional and tasty dishes I only had heard about before. I had "pappa al pomodoro", "tortelli di patate al ragu" and beef tartare. As far as I can say all well made. The impression is really that of homemade "mother" tasty food. The only (small) minus is perhaps an excess of orange zest and flavors in the tartare, which was an interesting interpretation anyways.
So: do not hesitate, just go there!
