“Fabulous stay at Villa Fiesole Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2011

If you are looking for a romantic get away hotel, this is the perfect spot. Gorgeous views of Florence from the terraces, spacious rooms, and excellent restaurant. It was too cool to use the outdoor pool so I cannot comment. Walked up to the the village of Fiesole, a ten minute walk, which had wonderful little shops, and what we considered the best restaurants on our trip. Especially Terrazza 45 and Ristorante I'Poplal, both highly recommended. If you do not have a car, you can use the public bus to get down to the city.

Room Tip: If available, the terrace views are amazing.

Dear Sir/Madam,

thank you so much for the nice word. Our property, so well kept by our housekeeping staff tries hard to give our guests the best experience possible; as a a matter of fact views like this inspire a big sense of care.

Hotel overlooks Florence in one of the high rent suburbs. Room was clean and near the hotel restaurant. Restaurant not only serves exceptional food with a nice wine list it has an outdoor patio seating which takes advantage of the view. The staff was exceptionally friendly and communicated well in English. Plenty of parking and although on a hill the hotel has a fancy outdoor lift fo accomodate handicapped guests. This hotel deserves all the great ratings.

Very nice hotel. Superb room with a lovely view. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. Poolside and Terrace very comfortable. Pool is more suited for adults than children as there's no shallow end. Restaurant food of a very high standard. Convenient bus service outside hotel, to and from Florence/Fiesole. However we preferred to take the 10 min walk up to Fiesole and appreciate the excellent views of this beautiful region. Will be staying here next year and we're already looking forward to it.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2011

We've visited the hotel in August 2011. After a visit to stressful Rome, this hotel was very ideal to relax. First after your arrival, you are impressed of the unique view over the city Florence and over the Tuscany landscape.

The hotel is located in Fiesole, a little bit outside the city of Florence. There is a public bus stop very close to the hotel. The public bus brings you downtown and also up to Fiesole. Also, 2 sightseeing bus companies (hop-on / hop-off) are serving Fiesole. A walk is too far - to Fiesole, and also to Florence, so maybe also for dinner you will need to take your car or the bus.

The staff is very helpful, friendly, and very customer-oriented, you just need to ask. We've got great assistance in booking tickets for the uffizi galleries, city map, public bus, sightseeing, etc.

We've had a deluxe double room in the main building. The room was very nice, but VERY small for a deluxe category. We've had a great view from our room over Florence. The room was very clean and there was all modern comfort of a 4* hotel. We've missed a welcome gift - fruits, mineral water, or a bottle of spumante. There was nothing. We've booked the happy birthday special with a free bottle of spumante at the room - which was not present.

We've had lunch after our arrival in the restaurant - very nice with a great view. Service was slow, but ok. A real NO-GO is to charge 15% service fee for hotel residence guests - this is not acceptable and so we've decided to have lunch and dinner outside, in Florence or up in the charming city of Fiesole. The bar is a joke - a corner with some bottles of alcohol. The breakfast buffet is nice, there is everything you need, even fresh fruits and spumante - either outside or inside. Service is here also slow - and after 5 nights it is getting boring.

The pool area is nice, clean, relaxing - but the pool itself is VERY SMALL! This is the only real "MINUS" of this hotel. You can not even swim one round when there are more then 2 people in the pool. Area is very clean, and there is good and fast pool service via phone (towels, bar-service, etc.).

Parking is available free of charge and with enough space. The hotel offers WLAN, we've got the first hour for free - regarding the booking of a deluxe category, internet should be unlimited at all. WLAN is also working at the pool area.

After all, it is a very nice place to stay in Florence, outside of the city stress. Very friendly staff, and a unique view! But I do not recommend a stay for more then 5, maybe 7 nights - it will get boring. Missing is a more spacious pool - and also a "place just to hang arround" except the pool area.

Room Tip: Deluxe room with Florence view is a MUST

Dear Sir Madam,

I thank you very much for a such detailed and professional review; these are the ones who really help to improve the structure and services.

We really appreciate the nice words regarding staff and housekeeping as well as the useful remarks ; unfortunately the pool could be built only in that spot when we opened the hotel for permit reasons .
The bar is another of the aspects we want to improve for next year.
My staff apologizes regarding the bottle of spumante which according to them was put in a wrong room, we are normally very carefull to give what we promise but in this case we did not succeed.

The only aspect I can't understand is the 15% service fee which has never been applied since I have been here either for lunch or dinner.
I'm afraid it has been misunderstood with room or pool services which have a fixed € 5.00 fee but if I'm wrong please let me know from where you had this information ; I'm very sensitive to food and beverage services because the restaurant is a pride of the hotel from when our new chef has begun to work with us.

Thanking for the stay I send you my really kind regards

We were delighted to return yet again to the wonderfully located Villa Fiesole hotel. The views of the skyline of Florence from the restaurant terrace are beautiful and our suite with it's own terrace,an ideal place for drinking prosecco in the evening and enjoying the view, was spacious and very comfortable,
The No7 bus is quick and convenient and takes you into the centre of Florence in about 20 minutes. The walk up to Fiesole itself takes about 10 mins and, although the road is quite busy, it is still enjoyable.
We have always found the reception staff to be very helpful and accommodating and the restaurant staff have got more relaxed and friendly over the years. The breakfasts are okay but not great; freshly sqeezed orange juice would be much appreciated as would fresh bread to slice and taost.
We will definitely return again next year and are looking foward to it already!

Room Tip: The suites in the new ground floor block are quieter than those in the old villa block.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2011 via mobile

We arrived without a reservation on a road trip through Italy. The receptionist was very polite and made us feel welcome. There was only one room left, at the back of the hotel. It had no view and was small, but it was well furnished, clean and comfortable. It was also reasonably priced.

The decider for us was that we were told we could have dinner on the hotel terrace, and we made a dinner reservation. When we arrived on the terrace, shortly before the reserved time, the restaurant manager told us there was no room because he was expecting two parties. We could understand there had been a mistake, but he was discourteous. We said we'd walk up to Fiesole to eat, and asked if we could have a drink first, as we'd been on the road all day and there was still plenty of room. He said "Not here." We walked up to Fiesole (not an easy walk because there's fast traffic and no footpath). At the Aurora hotel, we were made very welcome and were given a table on their terrace even though we weren't staying in their hotel. As a result, we can't say what the food is like in the Villa Fiesole, but we strongly recommend the Aurora. When we were checking out from the Villa Fiesole, we overheard another couple complaining to the front desk that, of their four nights in the hotel, they'd been excluded from the restaurant on two of them. It seems the hotel had booked outside parties without allowing for their guests.

The buffet breakfast was OK, though we had to seek out a waitress to order coffee.

We were very warmly received and all members of the hotel team were friendly,and helpful at all times;
The hotel is in an exceptional position that is spectaculair and allows a visitor to profit from its calm or to take advantage of its proximity to Florence - or to do both!
Our only regret is that we could not stay longer
