We've visited the hotel in August 2011. After a visit to stressful Rome, this hotel was very ideal to relax. First after your arrival, you are impressed of the unique view over the city Florence and over the Tuscany landscape.
The hotel is located in Fiesole, a little bit outside the city of Florence. There is a public bus stop very close to the hotel. The public bus brings you downtown and also up to Fiesole. Also, 2 sightseeing bus companies (hop-on / hop-off) are serving Fiesole. A walk is too far - to Fiesole, and also to Florence, so maybe also for dinner you will need to take your car or the bus.
The staff is very helpful, friendly, and very customer-oriented, you just need to ask. We've got great assistance in booking tickets for the uffizi galleries, city map, public bus, sightseeing, etc.
We've had a deluxe double room in the main building. The room was very nice, but VERY small for a deluxe category. We've had a great view from our room over Florence. The room was very clean and there was all modern comfort of a 4* hotel. We've missed a welcome gift - fruits, mineral water, or a bottle of spumante. There was nothing. We've booked the happy birthday special with a free bottle of spumante at the room - which was not present.
We've had lunch after our arrival in the restaurant - very nice with a great view. Service was slow, but ok. A real NO-GO is to charge 15% service fee for hotel residence guests - this is not acceptable and so we've decided to have lunch and dinner outside, in Florence or up in the charming city of Fiesole. The bar is a joke - a corner with some bottles of alcohol. The breakfast buffet is nice, there is everything you need, even fresh fruits and spumante - either outside or inside. Service is here also slow - and after 5 nights it is getting boring.
The pool area is nice, clean, relaxing - but the pool itself is VERY SMALL! This is the only real "MINUS" of this hotel. You can not even swim one round when there are more then 2 people in the pool. Area is very clean, and there is good and fast pool service via phone (towels, bar-service, etc.).
Parking is available free of charge and with enough space. The hotel offers WLAN, we've got the first hour for free - regarding the booking of a deluxe category, internet should be unlimited at all. WLAN is also working at the pool area.
After all, it is a very nice place to stay in Florence, outside of the city stress. Very friendly staff, and a unique view! But I do not recommend a stay for more then 5, maybe 7 nights - it will get boring. Missing is a more spacious pool - and also a "place just to hang arround" except the pool area.
