“Wonderful all around!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

My boyfriend and I spent 2 nights at Corte dei Medici and were completely happy with everything this hotel had to offer. It is difficult to find at first, hidden beside shops and restaurants. Make your way to the third floor for reception (there is a lift). When we checked in, the staff was wonderful. She gave us a map of Florence with all the main attractions highlighted, and showed us to our room a floor below and showed us how to use the lights (which work with a card attached to the room key). The room was amazing. We had a king size bed (not requested, so wonderful surprise), a mini fridge which was nice to keep juice and fruit in, and the bathroom was nice and spacious for a European bathroom. They gave amazing complimentary toiletries and had a hair dryer as well. We felt very safe in the hotel and the room and bathroom were very clean.
The location is also great. We walked there from the train station in about 10-15 minutes. You could also see the Duomo from the outside of the hotel and it didn't even take 5 minutes to walk to the main square. There was a wonderful market to the right of the hotel (a right when you exit the building) and the fruit, vegetable, meat, and fish market is in the big complex right in the middle of the outdoor market!
Breakfast was wonderful. A staff member made my boyfriend and I cappuccinos when we sat down, which were very good. There was a nice selection of pastries, cereals, juice, cold meats, cheese, hard boiled eggs, and fruit. Everything you need to start the day.
This is a great gem of a hotel that is inexpensive yet has everything you would need. I will definitely be staying here again when I visit Florence!

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a week to explore Florence and the surrounding Tuscan sights. The room price included breakfast and I consider it was excellent value. The room was clean, spacious and of international standard. Facilities include wi-fi that was fast and consistent, air con, tea/coffee making facilities, safe, fridge and a large wall mounted tv. The breakfast was a buffet which included freshly baked croissants, pastries and fresh coffee. The greatest asset of this hotel is the caring, polite and helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel has an unconventional layout with reception on the top floor and that just adds to the charm of the place. I would like to thank all the staff for making our stay very pleasant.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, a room at the front should be avoided as the market barrows are wheeled...

This was a wonderful hotel, centrally located in Florence. Warm, friendly staff, and a great breakfast buffet included. It was a little bit of a challenge to find - not really a showy hotel, and tucked into a piazza very unobtrusively. It was very easy to walk to the Academia and the Uffizi Museum.

Dear guest,
thanks for your review.
I am happy to know you enjoyed your stay here at hotel Corte dei Medici (hotel Medici is another hotel in Florence!).
I know it could be difficult to find us that is the reason why we always send a map with the directions to reach us both walking from the train station or by car.
We are working to have a larger entrance so I invite you to come back the next year to check our improvements.
Best regards
Chiara

We decided to take a quick three-day trip to Florence on our way from Bologna to Rome, so we mainly just wanted a place that was conveniently located and affordable. Corte dei Medici fit the bill. Our room just across the street from the Piazza de San Lorenzo, within walking distance from the Duomo, Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio and most of the major sites in the city as well as plenty of restaurants and shops. Our hotel room was clean and spacious, and the front desk was always courteous and happy to help.

We spent 5 nights in October in an upgraded room. As everyone has said, the location is amazing. Our room looked out on the Piazza de San Lorenzo and the San Lorenzo Basilica.
The room was roomy and comfortable. (Double pane windows! Very quiet.) The staff were very accommodating. The cappuccino every morning was spot on!
I would recommend this place to anyone.
Thanks you guys for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: Ask for an upgraded room. They are remodeling and the extra bells and whistles were fun.

Brilliantly located hotel in Florence - 5mins to train station, 2 mins to Duomo, 10 to Ponte Vecchio etc. Found it very easily - it is just a door in the street but look up and you'll see the flags and you'll know you are in the right place! We were 6 sisters and we took their family suite - couple of niggles, main one being that its advertised as having 2 bathrooms but doesn't - it has a bathroom and a separate toilet and hand basin. Not ideal when 6 people are trying to have showers in the morning. Space we had was great, but felt a little more attention could have been paid to housekeeping. We broke a glass on arrival and tidied it up as best we could thinking it would be sorted next morning - 2 days later it was still there. A good bit of dust around also, appreciate that the hotel is being renovated and this wouldn't have helped. I'm guessing our room is on the 'to do list' so would be interested to see how they would improve this - a 2nd shower is a must! Having said that we all slept very soundly, only noise being from the bells during the day of the Duomo nearby. Lots of excellent restuarants nearby. Breakfast very good, lady making the coffee very pleasant and friendly as were all staff members we met. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would have no hesitation in staying there again.

Room Tip: We were in the family room which was great for a family travelling together, but could do with a 2nd...

Dear Joanie,
thank you so much for your kind review.
I am aware the problem of the description of the room, the fact is that booking portals have very strict rules and if we say them that there are 1 bathroom and a small toilette they write that there are 2 bathrooms. It has take 2 month to make them change the description. Now it reports only one bathroom, it is not the truth but it is better like this.
I am really sorry for the glass pieces and the dust, when you have been here the housekeeper was on holiday and the substitute wasn't good enough for our standards.
Yes the room has still to be renovated, we works at one floor at once and the third is the last one on the list.
I am glad that you liked the hotel anyway, and I will be pleased to welcome you and your sisters again!
Best regards
Chiara
