“a Fine Resort in an Historic City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

Following a prearranged seamless airport pick up we arrived at this spectacular palace with beautiful parkland grounds located some distance from the center of this historic town. One is left wordless at the opulence and splendor of everything from lobby to lounges with original frescoes, from the very comfortable bar to the restaurant and, of course, the magnificent rooms and superb modern bathrooms with every conceivable luxury. The service cannot be faulted at any level with the reception and concierge staff addressing guests by name. A shuttle service is provided by the hotel for guests who wish to be driven to the center of town with set down near the Piazza Republica. Shopping can be left at the pick up spot with a hotel concierge permanently on location, so that the purchased goods can be transported back to the hotel for the guest. a splendid hotel indeed.

Room Tip: Rooms in the palace wing facing the gardens are best. Corner junior suites are large and have three...

“Amazing hotel and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

We just spent 6 days in Florence when it rained every day almost non stop. Based on the reviews and prior stays at other Four Seasons Hotels, we arrived with high expectations. I have to say our experience exceeded our expectations. The hotel is so well run that I feel every 5 star hotel manager should visit and learn from Four Seasons Hotel Firenze. It was remarkable that every staff member we encountered was superbly competent, courteous, pleasant and professional, from porters, concierges, front desk staff, waiters and maids. Even though it rained every day, the porters never ran out of umbrellas to give us when we left the hotel. The concierges seem to know every restaurant in Florence, and they could always find a good restaurant for us with minutes notice, even when we were out and needed a reservation immediately in a good restaurant near wherever we happened to be. Whatever we asked they remembered better than we did and reminded us before we needed to make decisions. I don't remember when it was the last time we encountered such superb service. The maids folded every piece of clothing we left out as well as all of our iPhone and computer charges. Whenever we needed ice, extra hangers, they were delivered within couple minutes.

We stayed in a premier room, and it was so large that 3 of us felt very comfortable staying there for 6 days (much more comfortable than the Junior suit we are staying in our hotel in Rome, which is supposed to be one of the best hotels in Rome). The large walkin closet and the spacious bathroom made a big difference, and the foyer provided extra privacy for the room. The gym was also very nice, well equipped with a separate room for yoga. AS other guests commented, the garden and the decor were beautiful and impeccable.

“World Class Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

This is a truly sublime hotel and scores excellently in design and service.

The aesthetics and design throughout the hotel ("lobby," restaurant, spa, gardens, rooms) are simply stunning and palatial - the entire property is a tastefully ornate restoration and enhancement of a Florentine palazzo, and every corner is royally appointed. I find that many luxury hotels lose their identity and their connection to their city/location in the pursuit of "standard" luxury amenities, but the Four Seasons Florence never seems generic - decorative accents and centerpieces unfailingly transport you to the unmistakable splendor of Renaissance Florence at every turn. This goes beyond statues and frescos: small details, like the line on a column in the main courtyard showing how high the water level was during the worst flood in the city's history, are nice touches that provide an even deeper, more intimate sense of history.

I had the pleasure of staying in a Four Seasons Junior Suite and found it spacious, flawlessly luxurious in its appointments, and beautifully decorated. It exuded comfort and luxury, and I would be remiss not to give special mention to the bathroom, which was exceptionally spacious (particularly by European standards, which I greatly appreciate at 6'4) with a divine marble shower and marble soaking tub. My friend luxuriated in a long bath one evening using the provided toiletries from a high end Florentine designer and said it was fantastic. It is also worth noting that we had three people in the room one night and that the extra bed was quite comfortable.

The service was highly attentive (the staff took the time to get to me even during trips where I stayed for a single night and was barely in the hotel), and every task I asked of the concierge was executed flawlessly (high speed train tickets back to Rome, diner reservations at Trattoria Sostanza). Great communication.

The buffet breakfast was sizable by European standards and quite good. The weekend brunch at Palagio is an impressive spread and very high quality (the oysters might have been a touch too briny for my tastes, but everything else was great). I even had the pleasure of having Thanksgiving dinner at Palagio, and although the experience certainly didn't replicate the rib-sticking, comfort-food experience of an American Thanksgiving, the food was very good, and the service attentive.

The grounds were immaculately manicured, the outdoor pool is nice and well-staffed during the height of a sunny day in summer, and the spa provided a nice massage for my friend - I did not experience the spa facilities myself and as such cannot comment any further on them.

The only drawback of this property is the location, which is not as central or tremendously desirable as its luxury competition. It is not terribly inconvenient - the heart of the old city/tourist corridor is just a 20ish minute walk instead of the 2-10 minute walk from somewhere like the Savoy. The hotel will readily call you a taxi, but in a city like Florence you feel as though walking through the beautiful city should be part of your experience.

This is one of my favorite hotels, and I find it to be preciously opulent rather than gaudy. The experience of staying here (facilities, service, intangible Florentine mystique) provides good value despite the considerable price tag.

“Modern Luxury in the heart of the Renaissance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

What a beautiful and unique Four Seasons property. The rooms are spacious, well appointed, and tastefully ornate. We had a view of the gardens which I highly recommend. We were celebrating our anniversary and they welcomed us with a bottle of prosecco and tasty chocolate cake. They also decorated our bed with rose petals the first night. It was thoughtful and well appreciated. The room service/turn down service was perfect and housekeeping brought up shaving cream as my husband forgot. The staff is delightful and knowledgeable. The grounds are beautiful and you get the feel that this was a home in the Renaissance. While it may be a few blocks from the center of town the garden well makes up for it. We enjoyed a leisurely stroll our last morning. Also, the Atrium Bar is the quite the scene. On Thursday nights they have a piano and sax player and offer drink/appertivo specials. It appears the glitterati of Florence comes out for it which makes the whole atmosphere great!

Overall, we had an amazing experience. I can truly say after staying in Four Seasons from Sydney to Baltimore, and marrying at the one in Miami, this one is a standout. It absolutely made our holiday. I could not recommend it more!!!

“My favorite place to stay in Italy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

We stayed here from Feb 20-24 2013. It was my second time. This is a lovely hotel with fantastic service. We went to an event here that was combined with the Enoteca Pinchiorri and it was fabulous. I can't say enough great things about this Four Seasons Hotel and its staff.

Room Tip: We had an Executive Suite. It was a wonderful room on the four floor. The only downside was that i...
