“Elegant & charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2009

We are from New Zealand and booked our accommodation online. We found that this hotel has an elegant and refined atmosphere. We stayed 2 nights in a junior double room (paying Euro 207.00 for the 2 nights). For the price we paid, the hotel met all our expectations. The room had a window overlooking the street which made the room bright. Although compact, the room was very cosy. We loved the decor and the furnishings. The bathroom was clean.
The breakfast was also very good (compared to our other hotels which mostly offered a single croissant with coffee). Staff were well presented, courteous and organized.

There was no tea or coffee making facilities, so we requested hot water to make our own.

Of the 9 hotels we stayed on our Europe trip, this one was our favourite. If only all hotels were as good as this one!

After Florence we went to Venice & stayed at Antico Casin (also a lovely stay)

I went to Florence with my boyfriend for 2 nights, and I thought this hotel would be a good idea. We had booked one junior double for the first night, and a classic double for the second. However, in the second night, after having made us leave the room we already had, they simply told us that THERE WERE NO CLASSIC ROOMS AVAILABLE!!! They made us be in another kind of "tourist house" room, INCREDIBLY NOISY, WITH SEPARATED BEDS!!!! And they still charged us for THE MOST EXPENSIVE ROOM!!!! They literally STOLE my money!!! Staff was incredibly rude, they didn't speak english. Breakfast was terrible - bread was hard as a rock. The hotel had no amenities at all. Definitly the worst choice.

We would like to explain what has happen with these guests.
They made their reservation at the end of April, but only at the end of May they realized that they have made a mistake. In fact, they booked for 18th of May instead of 18th of June. Unfortunately, for the period of their real stay (check in 18/06/2009 check out 20/06/2009), we have no availability for the same room for both nights, because just in that days, in Florence there was a fashion fair and it was quite impossible to find a room available. However, we have found a solution and everything seems to be ok, but only until check out, when they started to say that they didn't want to change room (we have explained that before their arrival), that we gave them a room with twin beds instead of double (they didn't ask for a double) and that they didn't want to pay that price for the room we gave them.
We want to make the point that for that kind of room breakfast is not included, but we grant to them to take advantage of it, without overpriced.
As written in other review, all the other guests has been pleasantly satisfied from our kindness, from our staff that speak more than one language (English included) and from our breakfast that they judged as one of the best breakfast they ever had.
We regret that these guests felt the need to write something that is not true.

Though the room is rather tiny, it's clean and the stay is enjoyable. Really friendly and helpful service throughout our stay.

Just got back from our honeymoon in Italy and the Florence leg of it was based out of Hotel La Venere. I can't say enough about the location of the hotel - it seems to be an easy walk from pretty much anything. The Duomo, The Accadamia, The San Lorenzo church and market - all within 5 minutes. Train station is close too - although probably 8-9 minutes. Anynway, rooms were very clean, air conditioning worked great, showers were hot, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with booking tours, getting us a cab, offering advice, and breakfast each morning was great.

The only negatives were a small tv (not flat screen like advertised) with a remote control that didnt really work and the fact that wi-fi internet wasnt free (and was kinda expensive). But considering you dont really go to Florence to watch tv or get online, this wasnt too much of a setback. Great Place!

First of all, we would like to thank the guests for the review they've done about our hotel.
We would like to specify that in our rooms there are only 20" lcd flat screen tv and we regret that they wrote that it isn't so. We regret also that they didn't tell to our staff their problem with the remote control. We would have surely found a solution.
We hope that they will be our guests the next time they will be in Florence.

My husband and I rented out the Il David Tourist house in La Venere for two nights. It was a great value, and the room was clean and comfortable. And quiet! We could hear the bells of the cathedral, but not much else. The bathroom was a bit tight for my tall husband-- it is a funky step down to the toilet area. No room service, no cleaning, but for two nights this was not a problem. There is a tiny little kitchen, and the windows are narrow and high up. Breakfast is not included but you can purchase it through the hotel if you so desire. I found the staff very friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic, and a great place to crash after a long day of sightseeing. Very close to the Accademia and San Marcos. People have commented on its strange location-- it is on the 3rd floor of a building with a tiny little elevator, but I'm otherwise puzzled by the comments. This is not that unusual in Italy-- we ran across it several times. I totally recommend this place.

This hotel is on third floor with a tiny evelvator as previous reviewrs have noted. We had a triple room the third bed providing room for a our luggage, it was fine. In this hotel you pay for location, 2 blocks from the Duomo and only blocks from almost everything else.

The staff was friendly and helpful made good recommendations for a restaurant and wine bar. they also made exceptional esspresso and capuchinos, better than any hotel we stayed and as good as the best cafes in Italy. If you love coffee and are fortunate enough to come across Lem Lem at the reception desk you'll one of the best, if not the best esspresso ever.

This place wasn't overly cheap, but it was good. We stayed in one of the apartments attached to the hotel (upstairs) and it was lovely. Very clean, very well furnished, well supplied and plenty of space. There was a little bit of traffic noise from the busy street below, but nothing that bothered us. I wouldnt hesitate in recommending this litte gem of a place!
