If you're a first time visitor to Florence, like we were, then La Luna is the perfect way to get the best introduction to the city. It's close to the centre of town (10 mins walk), and also only 15 mins from the station. With 17th Century frescoes and embroideries dotted about the hallway, the room we had also boasted a lovely high ceiling fresco. With a comfy, large bed, air conditioning, built-in safe, cable TV and even an electric massage chair, the room suited us great. Only thing is that the bathroom is not en-suite, but as long as you don't mind a few steps down the hall to have a shower, it's really not much of a bother.
The real star of the show here, though, is Riccardo. He's a true gem of a B&B owner. A born and bred Florentine, he's happy to give you the inside track on his favourite haunts in the city. What not to miss, and - even more helpfully - where to avoid. He kitted us out with maps as soon as we arrived, asked us what we were most interested in seeing and doing, and highlighted some options for us. I have to say, it made the three days we were there so much easier and more productive than we would have managed with just a guide book. He's the nicest, friendliest guy we met in Florence, and we would happily stay at La Luna again.
