“Expensive, lousy service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

We went here in recommendation of a friend. But I got a bad impression from the start. We asked to order, but the two Service girls who were milling around said we'd have to wait to speak to the head waiter. We waited for about 15 minutes while he took the order of the only other table in the place, and ran errands, while the two girls stood around chatting. I found this utterly stupid and insulting. The food is just average, but the prices are a bit on the expensive side, as is the cuperto, or service charge. All we got for it was dry, old bread. No oil, no nothing.

Perhaps this is one of those restaurants where the locals are wated better than stupid tourists like us. I hope that tourists read this and don't come to this restaurant, so that the wait staff don't have to deal with people they so obviously don't like.

“Yum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

Absolutely delicious!! My husband started with the prosciutto plate and I had the gazpacho. The gazpacho was probably the best I've ever had. The prosciutto plate was quite large with 4 different types of smoked meats, and my husband enjoyed every last bite of it. The pastas were fantastic and there was a nice wine list as well. It was worth the walk!

“Lovely room, great food”

Really enjoyed our dinner here. The Bistecca a la Fiorentina was fantastic and the melon gazpacho was a surprise star.

“Good Food, nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

This eatery is in the Oltrarno area. The entry is a little shop of fine foods & displays and then further in is the actual sitting area. The ambience is not what you would call typically rustic Florentine style...but it is nice enough; tablecloths, etc. Service is not particularly warm nor memorable but it is reliable, prompt, attentive and overall pretty good....it's just not a place where the mother comes out from the kitchen and the daughters are serving; so if you are on the look out for an Italian familial experience, this is not it. English is spoken or at least understood well enough. Menu has a nice authentic offering; pastas and antipastos are always good. Very nice wine selection and reasonably priced. We have been here 3-4 times; it's a good standby if you don't have somewhere specific to go and you are near the Pitti Palace/ Piazza del Carmine. They have a good selection of oils and balsamics for sale too.

“Delicate and delicious!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

It was an amazing Tuscan meal. Delicious! Have the homemade pasta, or the goat cheese, or the goose.
