“Great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2014

We stayed 3 nights nights in the lovely old property which dates back to 1478.

Donatella the host was extremely helpful in providing advice with bus routes and places to visit.

Breakfast was taken at a large table where we enjoyed conversation with other guests.

Having stayed in historic Florence twice before and traveling this time in a car caused us to search for something outside the city. That internet search led us to the historic Villa Malavolta, and the effusive reviews by those who have been here before us (BTW, all spot-on) prompted the reservation. As mentioned in the reviews, it was a bit challenging to find it by car - the website directions could use a 'brush up.' From the friendly and helpful welcome by son, Vani, on arrival and equally friendly and helpful interaction with Donatella & Sergio throughout made us feel at home. Our room was beautiful, airy, and comfortably quiet, and it was tided up each day. The library/study outside was a good place to relax and connect to the wifi. Breakfast room was breathtaking, the breakfast adequate. The bus trip in and out of town added to the experience of this stay and visit to Florence. The reward for a tightly packed bus ride back was dinner at Pizzeria Pippistrello. All the experiences associated with our stay at Villa Malavolta were amazing and very positive, and we look forward to the day that we do it again.

The B&B is conveniently located just outside of Florence with easy access by bus. Donatella & husband were excellent hosts, who have an amazing home from about the 15th century. The rooms nicely decorated and comfortable; the breakfast excellent. Will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Try the restaurant down the street from the B&B.

We stayed at the Villa Malavolta for 4 nights and enjoyed our spacious room and the airiness of the property. If we return to Florence we will stay here again if possible.
The Villa Malavolta is on the south edge of Florence. We found that it was easily accessible by bus. One caveat--bus tickets can be bought at the local tobacco shop, which apparently does not open until 10 AM, so if one is planning to go downtown early, one should buy bus tickets the night before.

Room Tip: One room has a double bed while the other has twin beds

On arrival we were greeted like long-lost friends...Donatella is such a gracious host. We were immediately comfortable and loved the Villa and the area. Bedroom and bathroom are well-equipped, every need has been anticipated. Tea and coffee-making facilities are above average with lovely china and silverware, and all rooms are so clean they shine. Access to Florence is easy, with frequent buses. The local pizzeria is good, and we would also recommend the delightful La Vera Napoli at Galuzzo. Galuzzo is easily reached in a few minutes by local bus and is well worth the effort. Donatella gives good advice on things to do or places to see, and on the day of our departure was up and about to see us off, even though we had an early start. Such thoughtfulness and kindness are typical of this lovely host.

Do yourself a favor and discover the REAL Florence and stay at Villa Malavolta. The experience is made all the more special by Donatella - a wonderful and gracious host. The villa is divine as are the gardens. To stay in a real Florentine street (well actually the villa is situated on the ancient road from Florence to Rome) and be around the locals, adds to the experience. The bus trip to the centre of Florence leaves from down the corner and there are ample restaurants and a gelato bar in the main street. Breakfast is served in a 15th century kitchen with silver service and always a fresh rose from the garden.Rooms are spacious and bathroom is modern. Donatella is an accomplished artist and a walking history book !! You wont want for anything if you stay here - except to come back again!! 10/10 Donatella.
