“Smelt like a sewer”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012 via mobile

Our room smelt so horrible, at first we thought maybe it's been closed for a while so my husband and I opened the windows and doors to air it out. After going out and returning the smell was even worse with the heat. So had already paid for two nights there but when and asked for availability at another hotel, unfortunately they were full so we changed rooms still at hotel Arno and it was a little better but the smell wasn't completely gone. So needs a bit of a upgrade.

We stayed here as a couple as part if a tour. The lady on the front desk was really lovely. Our room was dated, wouldn't say it was clean, but not dirty either. The stale smoke smell put me off, it was awful. Very hot and it really doesn't pay to open the windows at night or else you get eaten alive. We did enjoy our short two night stay here though.excellent location!!! The room key, (in photo) gave us a good laugh, it was the first we came across on tour of Europe, but wasn't the last. Our room was spacious, and had one queen and two single beds. Bathroom could do with a very indepth clean or re-vamp. Breakfast was ok, have had better in two and three star hotels though. Biggest thing is, keeping the milk chilled, I found it was warm in many places.

Great staff and continental breakfast. Excellent on-site secure parking available. Building and rooms in definite need of maintenance and upgrading.

Came to the hotel at a very late hour. The reception staff is very friendly and helpful. Though it is not a 4-5 star hotel but the friendliness of the staffs is a 5-star. They helped us to book a room for our next trip. Thought us where to park our car. Room is average but pretty clean though it is old looking. Bathroom is clean. Carpet is old though. Towel is queer, to my surprise I thought they gave us extra pillow cases. To my surprise it absorbed water very well. Breakfast is normal. I love the cheese given though it is packet but overall it filled my hunger. Would recommend to others who has a car and want a budget room with good friendly staffs and basic requirements.

We only stayed one night here as part of a group tour and each of our rooms were different. I wish I could remember which room # had the best interior but it was a quad that had soaring ceilings that were ornately designed. The room was large enough to fit eight people, although I don't know if that would've been allowed.

Towels are unusual but they were thirsty cotton fabric so those who doubt that a thin, sheet-like "towel" could work, it does.

It does get stuffy at night so leaving the windows cracked sounded like a good idea at first until we realized that we let in quite a few mosquitoes and the street was quite busy/loud all night.

A simple continental breakfast was served and coffee was superb!

we stayed here as part of a tour group. the hotel is on the budget side. we got a family room with a double and 2 single beds for me and my partner, so room was large though cluttered with the beds. bathroom was tiny, a bit moldy, and the thinnest towels i have ever seen. Couldnt even use them to dry my hair. breakfast i dont even remember, so must have been mediocre. Service was nice, polite and the guy at reception remembered which rooms you were staying in so gave you the key as you entred (you have to elave room key at reception when leaving) it was noisy with thin walls. location was excellent with the main florence centre within walking distance of the hotel (15mins to the main piazza) Our walking tour of Florence began abt 10mins from hotel, and we walked everywhere so location was excellent

Our group of 2 teachers and teenage students stayed in the Hotel Arno for two nights at a very good rate. The hotel was booked by colleagues on our behalf. On arrival we were greeted warmly and shown to our rooms which were basic but clean. Staff very pleasant and helpful, ordered taxis and offered recommendations on places to visit etc. Breakfast was buffet style, offering the usual croissants, rolls, cheeses, yogurts, fruit juices, cereals and preserves. There's a bus stop outside the door (we didn't use the bus so can't comment on frequency of service). A taxi to the centre cost approx 8 euro and a taxi to the train station around 10 euro. We booked the Terravison bus from Pisa to Florence in advance, which was very comfortable and punctual. If I were returning to Florence I would stay in a hotel with a higher star rating for added comfort and facilities, however if a basic clean no frills hotel is what you want, then the Arno would fit the bill.
