“Neat little hotel, close to centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here 3 nights. Spacious, comfortable rooms and bathrooms, spotlessly clean. Wi-fi worked well. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is serve yourself continental with a selection of rolls, pastries and cereals and yoghurt. Some fruit would have been a nice touch, this was the only thing I felt was lacking. There is some street noise if your room is located at the front, but we closed the window and put the air con on and it was fine.
The hotel is located close to outdoor and indoor markets - if you like your food the indoor market is not to be missed!! Cafes and restaurants close by.
The duomo, Medici chapel and l'accademia are a short walk, other sights no more than 20 minute walk away, so the location is excellent.
I would say this is more of a B & B than an hotel, but would definitely recommend it.

Great hotel in a great location. The room was big and felt like being at home. The staff were very friendly and helpful, thank you to Giovanni and your staff for making our stay in Florence memorable. Very good WIFI reception also if you need it.

This is a little gem of a place and very happy we found it.

We enjoyed a very good time at the Collodi. The hotel, according to Florence culture, has a sober and warm decoration at its hallways and rooms; it is very clean and comfortable.
The double room at the second floor, although the elevator reaches the first one, have wonderful and warms wood ceilings and is very spacious and comfortable.
The Wi-Fi service runs perfect. The breakfast was various and good to start the journey in Florence.

It has a very helpful and polite staff at Giovanni´s command that offers to the guest the best Italian hospitality.
The location is excellent; about 10 minutes to Santa Maria Novella train station and San Lorenzo Church (opposite directions) and 15 minutes to the Duomo.
At the neighborhood, safe, you can do some shopping, have dinner and fun.

Highly recommendable, do not miss it.

The manager was super-friendly & helpful. We were able to leave our bags with him before we even checked in, allowing us to stroll Florence in the early morning - which was the highlight of our trip. Air conditioned room meant no mosquitos! Very beautiful mural on the ceiling. Breakfast was nothing special, but the price was right for our stay. Lovely hotel.

I stayed at Hotel Collodi for one night before flying home. The hotel is close to the Duomo, but on a quiet street. The room had a large spotless bathroom. There was a flat screen TV with CNN and BBC. The twin room had the second bed upstairs, which worked well for me. Because we left early in the morning we did not get to eat breakfast there. We asked for a taxi to pick us up at 5:30am and it was there as scheduled. The price was very good for the location and quality.

They helped us out with questions before we arrived and during our stay.
Languages: owners spoke English at what seemd to be the native level (even though it was not).
AC: not settable from room, got a little warm on some nights
bathroom: good bathroom, fan a bit loud (duct fan, not bathroom fan), but no biggie
wifi: Perfect wifi, one access point per room, no code required
Location: <10mn from train station on foot, very close to Accademia, less than 15mn on foot from most important locations in Florence, including Uffizi.
Breakfast: overall good breakfast (no eggs/bacon), and really good blood orange, as well as good coffee.
Elevator: lift to 2nd floor worked fine, maybe there are higher floors without access, ask before you have heavy luggage you can't take up stairs.
Misc: if you don't get the 50 euro all museum pass (fireze card), owners can get you a reservation for Uffizi and Accademia (you really want one).

Room Tip: elevator may not go to all floors, ask if you have heavy luggage
