I would stay at Antica Dimora Johlea again in a heartbeat. I would also recommend it to any friends or family visiting Florence.
The location is great. On the map it looks a little far from the center of town where most of the sightseeing is, but it is misleading because it is only a 10 minute walk to the Duomo. We loved that it was just slightly outside the center of town and away from all of the street gypsies and noisy tourists that are so common towards the center.
The women who work the front desk were extremely helpful-- they booked dinner reservations for us on several occasions and even helped us book a hotel in Siena, which was our next stop.
I noticed that in some of the reviews people complained about parking being expensive but we parked in the garage a few blocks away and thought it was reasonably priced and we even got a discount from the lady working the front desk because we were guests of the B&B. No complaints here!
We stayed in the room right at the foot of the stairs on the same floor as the receptionist desk (I can't remember what room number it was). The room was adorable and had a large canopy bed. It was cozy and inviting and more importantly, it was extremely clean (which is a HUGE factor for me). It was a little snug for two adults but not uncomfortable, especially since we were spending most of our day sightseeing and not laying around the hotel! It had a big walk in closet where we stored our luggage and helped to free up some more space. There was also a cute little side table with a spread of Twining's Tea which we thought was a nice touch.
Antica Dimora Johlea was a little hard to find so I recommend calling or e-mailing them beforehand and getting specific directions. Once you find the correct building you will need to go to the top floor of the building via the tiniest and scariest elevator to find it.
The breakfast in the morning had a limited selection but was nice and light and was exactly what we were looking for in the morning before heading our for the day. We would make a plate full of cold cuts, cheese and brioche and take it up to the rooftop terrace to enjoy with a cup of espresso or tea. Which brings me to the terrace... It's wonderful! You have a 360 view of Florence, including the Duomo! We thought the rooftop terrace was such a great feature and it was the icing on the cake at this fabulous B&B!
All in all you cannot go wrong with Antica Dimora Johlea-- I just can't imagine anyone NOT loving this place.
