“beautiful location, fantastic host”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

Frantoio delle Grazie is a beautiful old agricultural building nicely renovated into several apartments. I came here to work for a few weeks in Florence whilst my husband and children (6&8) holidayed. We stayed in Limoni which has 1 double room and a sofa bed in the living area. The facilities were perfect for us, Simone the host was fantastically welcoming, friendly and helpful - he even drove me himself into Florence with my bags on my last day as we did not have a car - well above and beyond the expected service. The property has beautiful gardens beneath the hills of Settignano and a great pool - enjoyed by the children even when the weather was unseasonably not so good. I took the bus everyday into Florence and it was a regular and convenient service. The house is a little walk from the bus, but for the proximity to Florence centre and the location it was a real find. To explore the countryside around, a car would be good, but it is possible to stay here without. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property.

When we arrived at the property, we were stunned by the enormous driveway leading to the main building. We were so anxious to see our appartment, which was above expectations. The location was also great. There's a bus that stops ten minutes away and takes you to the centre of Florence in about 15-20 minutes. Interesting places like Sienna, Arrezzo and San Gimigniano are only a 45 minutes drive away. So it's situated right in the heart of Tuscany.
The place itself is so lovely and peaceful. Highly recommendable! The best place for a dolce farniente in charming Tuscany ...

Il Frantoio delle Grazie was perfect from the moment we drove up the long, beautifully landscaped driveway to a very old, but beautifully renovated farmhouse on the outskirts of Florence. It is so comfortable, peaceful and quiet place surrounded by olive trees, garden and open space. It's within fairly easy reach of Florence's historical centre and a comfortable drive to many charming places in Tuscany (Chianti, Sienna, Montepulciano, etc). The apartment was immaculate on our arrival. The surrounding is spacious and very peaceful for relaxing. Signore Simone Starnotti, the owner, is very helpful and friendly. We’d definitely recommend this place to our friends and hope to return some other time. Vitali & Anna P.

We wanted the best of both worlds; a base from which to explore Florence and a peaceful retreat in the countryside and this place did not disappoint. It is absolutely beautiful and even better than it looks in the pictures on the website. Buses frequently leave the town centre to the suburb near the villa and you disembark opposite a well stocked mini market that sells good food and fab wines at amazingly cheap prices. You walk for about ten minutes from the suburb, under the railway (not an intimidating tunnel but a well lit , wide, walkway and bit of road) and down a pretty, quiet country lane to the gates of the villa which is set well back from the road. There is a track which is about 500 metres long up to the villa and you can just make out the Duomo in the distance, through the trees. The apartment we stayed in was lovely and scrupulously clean; and the stone walls, tiled floors and air conditioning brought instant relief from the heat of the day. The pool was spot on and there were plenty of loungers and sun parasols for everyone. Signor Starnotti could not have been more helpful and he gave us a lift to the bus stop with our cases when we left. Can't wait to go back!

I thought this was a great place to stay - a very old, but beautifully renovated farmhouse on the outskirts of Florence, surrounded by olive trees, garden and open space. All in all, a very peaceful setting where you can take your pick of sightseeing or relaxing (depending how motivated you are !). It's within fairly easy reach of Florence's historical centre (about a 10-15 min bus trip) and a short drive to many other places in Tuscany (Sienna, Chianti etc), but at the same time, it's far enough away from the touristy hustle and bustle of town to feel like you are in the Tuscan countryside. The apartment was immaculate on my arrival and well-kitted out for fixing coffee/breakfast/meals etc. I'd definitely recommend this place - I hope to return soon !

A great park around an historical mill very well restored where you feel the culture of the toscany landscape. A reception both professionnel and cordial. An appartement where we felt at home! The Frantoio delle Grazie will surely see us again as also our friends when they come to Florence! A highly recommending rental home!
