“Central, good owners, more of a hostel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

The good:
- Very central, close to train station and walking distance to the main attractions
- Owner (Paola) was very helpful, pointed out everything we should see on a map, places to eat and made a booking for us to see David

The bad:
- The air conditioning wasn't great, so in summer the room was very hot
- The shower is very small, (we stayed in a double room with ensuite) I could barely move with the curtain shut
- Being on the 2nd floor with no lift when you have a lot of luggage in the middle of summer is not ideal

Another thing to note is that the address comes up incorrectly on google maps so follow the instructions/map the owners send you!

We realise this is a hostel type of hotel so we couldn't expect too much. We got the couple/double room which was closest to the entrance door. The rooms with multiple beds were further inside and I think noiser. So we did enjoy some privacy, but the room was still very very cramp and the bathroom very small. And I didn't enjoy the bed at all, when 1 of us shifted in our sleep, the other would be disturbed. The mattress springs were really not great and I hardly slept! The owners were quite friendly but we had initially wanted to pay by credit card and the owners had said yes, but when we were there, they asked us to pay by cash instead as the machine wasn't working. The only saving grace of the place was that it was conveniently located within walking distance to the train station and we also to most of the attractions.

Stayed in a twin room with ensuit bathroom, very clean, fairly basic room but with towels tea and coffee for the morning and a Good nights sleep! Very friendly owners provided us with a map and showed us the best routes and places to visit in florence. The hotel is within walking distance of all main attractions, plenty of places to eat on the same road and very close to the station. Also air con and free wifi is a bonus! Would definitely stay again and recomend. Note: it is on the second floor without a lift, but this wasnt a major issue.

We found this hotel exceeded our expectations. The facilities were basic but we had everything we needed, the room and en suite were very clean and the bed in room 18 was a large double. Paola and Rob are a delight, very welcoming and helpful, providing a map of the town and how to get to different attractions, even booking us into the Uffizi for the next day. The hotel is in a quiet area of town and only a few minutes walk from all the main attractions. We hope to return to Florence as there is so much to see, this is a town that should not be rushed. We will stay here again.

One of the best low cost / budget hotels I ever stayed at. We are extremely pleased with the services rendered by Paula. She is highly commendable for the warm welcome and providing us with tips on exploring Florence. She also offered us to help ourselves to the fruits / beverage available at the pantry. Although room interior is quite standard for a low cost hotel and there is no elevator - the place is clean and neat. Wifi available at the common area. Convenient location and close to the main train station in Florence (Firenze Santa Maria Novella).

Lovely welcome. Rooms were average nothing special but all you need is a clean bed and bathroom! Good location, easy walk to the train and bus station. Cheap enough. Nothing really stands out as good or bad.

First, we were touched by their thoughtfulness. After going to many places in Europe, we really didn't expect the warm welcome they had extended to us. Paola's son - he waited for us, and he sat down with us with the map of florence and explain to us the places we should visit and had suggested routes for us to visit the places. We were actually on our honeymoon, and this is THE ONLY HOTEL during our trip (France, Swiss, Italy), that had really made us feel like we were on our honeymoon. They had even given us a gift, a "honeymoon" gift which really was unexpected.... really really so sweet of them to have thought of that...

The room is basic and very clean. The bathroom was ensuire and it too was very clean...The bed was simple, nice and comfortable. There was a microwave, cookies, coffee and tea making facitilies in the hallway. They also provided free wifi.

The location is very near the train station. About less than 10 minutes walk. You need to look out for the number on the "houses" to see the hotel as you will not be able to spot it instantly. It is near restaurants, supermarts, banks, etc. Strategic location to walk around in Florence. It's also about 5-10 minutes walk to the famed San Lorenzo market where you get to buy and barter for leather items.

Both Paola and her son are very helpful. We had asked to help us to charge our ipod, and every day they had helped us to charge our ipod (charger is by the USB PC connector), and place it in our room when we come back at night. They really do go the extra mile to help you and make you feel comfortable.

The stairs to the hotel is a great place to take a picture, especially with the lights coming in from the top. Do remember to take a pic here!

There is nothing actually that I did not like about the place. In truth, this place had more than exceed our expectations. Highly recommended! If we were to go to Florence, we would definitely stay there again! No doubt about it!

Room Tip: If you get a room facing the front, it may ne noisy, but if you close the windows properly, you wont...
