“Spectacular”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

From the 8ft high elaborate glass chandeliers, to the hand painted walls, to the beautiful furniture and miniature working Ferraris, to the tunnel connecting the main building to the adjacent villa, you will never forget a stay here. The staff are all very friendly, welcoming, courteous and make you feel at home - couldn't ask for more. The only two things that I would comment negatively on are the location (it's a good 20 mins in a taxi to the centre of Florence), but that shouldn't put you off. The second is the food - for such a magnificent hotel neither the dinner or breakfast were of the quality I would have expected.

Visited Italy (Rome and FLorence) for 5 days. In Florence we chose the Olmi Resort because it was off-the-beaten path. The facilities were lavish but with a farmhouse feel. Breakfast was excellent. We wanted to relax after a couple of days of the hustle and bustle of Rome. It was very serene and beautiful. Almost too quiet actually. We went out for a dinner (returned around 12:30am or so) and naturally, after a few drinks, we were laughing and talking. Following a call from the front desk asking us to lower our voices, we realized that we could hear EVERYTHING from our neighbors through the paper thin walls. We literally heard them hanging up the phone from calling the front, coughing, and whispering to each other...you get the picture. It is off-season in Italy in November, so the hotel was empty, which almost made it eerily quiet. So if you enjoy absolute serenity and quiet, this is perfect. If you are up late, enjoy interacting with others at your hotel, or walking to other locations, then you may want to try a location in the centro.

Room Tip: If possible ask for a corner room or to not be placed side by side with another guest if they are in...

We stayed 3 nights at Villa Olmi at the start of our 2 week honeymoon trek through Tuscany. It was a great way to start. Lovely accommodations with modern infrastructure. Grounds are beautiful and we were sorry that our busy schedule did not allow us to enjoy them more. Staff was warm and helpful. Restaurant was wonderful but agree with earlier comment that the menu is limited. Great breakfast. Shuttle service was great to get into and out of central Florence but is limited in its hours of operation. Would love to go back.

We stayed for 3 nights, as I saw the deal on their website which seemed to compare well to 4/5 star hotels in the centre, and we were travelling with a car (I didn't fancy driving in Florence). The buildings are very impressive, some of them go back to the 15th century. There are lots of paintings and statues in the lobby, and a fountain outside. Staff are attentive and polite.

The room was big, 4 poster bed (not that comfortable), and two portraits above the television in our room. It was a bit offputting, to be honest- I didn't really want to be watched when I was watching telly.

The hotel is out of the centre of Florence, and there isn't really anything to do, which I was a bit disappointed with a 5 star hotel. If you've got a car, it's a good base to explore Tuscany.

If you love the thought of staying in an old historic building, this is the place for you. Personally, we found that it was not particularly comfortable, and didn't really have any facilities of note. Nothing to do with the staff or management, but we would not stay here again.

We only stayed one night in this wonderful hotel and we were very pleased.
The hotel is very classy with beautiful interior and a super nice restaurant with
nice polite staff. When we arrived the desk manager, showed us around in a very
friendly way, yes we felt welcomed!
The breakfast was wonderful with everything.
As a nice touch there were 2 t-shirts as a present from the hotel, on our pillow when we went to bed. A beautiful relaxing hotel.

Room Tip: Our room was in 2 floors, not too convenient, try to find a room on 1 floor only.

Staff was exceptionally attentive. Hotel was comfortable. My only complaint was the lack of variety on the menu, if you are planning to eat supper there every night you may be bored after the second night with the selection off the menu. They have a set menu and we only ate there twice and found it annoying that there was not a greater selection of dishes for supper. Also while the food was unique off the menu we did have better meals elswhere in Tuscany for less cost. Breakfast was fantastic with a great variety of food/pastries/fruits etc. to choose from.

It's a little less convenient to the major sites in historic part of Florence, but easier to drive to other places than being inside the city. Free parking and convenient access to the major highways makes this great for touring other areas, and the free shuttle bus drops you inside the historic city. The rooms are wonderful, beautiful grounds and pool and the fabulous breakfast was the best we had in 2 weeks in Italy.
